Natalie Cole Cancels Tour, Diagnosed with Hepatitis C

(EZ-Tracks) - Singer Natalie Cole has decided to cancel her tour dates for the month of October due to complications from Hepatitis C, AP reports.

A winner of eight Grammy Awards, the 58-year-old singer has been placed on bed rest at her home following a hospitalization last month.

Speaking to AP, Cole’s publicist Maureen O’Connor said that Cole is doing well, but that she had undergone some kidney dialysis which was unrelated to her Hep C. AP reports that in July Cole revealed that she had likely contracted the disease from drug use several decades ago. Hepatitis C is a disease that damages the liver, sometimes leading to cancer. It is sometimes spread through contaminated blood or shared drug paraphernalia.
