Hi i was reading a post earlier on U.F Profiles and was wondering is there post or website that explains the settings of your dialysis machine for example what u.f profile it is set at, or what pump speed it is set. and how much fluid is set to come off.
the reason I'm asking, is because at my unit every second nurse seems to fiddle with the machines. they turn up the pump speed or decide to take off more and the end result is myself crashing or chest pains, cramps. etc.
The machines that we use are the Gambro AK95.
any tips would be appreciated
thanks.

We use Fresenius 2008K. I was actually able to download a copy of the manual from the Fresenius website. I looked for your machine and all I found was a Service Manual. It may be out there somewhere.

Yeah we use the 2008 series machines too. Some we have are S's and some are K's and some are a few older models. I think we have a Gambro too - are they big and blue things? Look kind of different to the fresenius boxes.

doesn't matter what brand the machine is tell the nurses to keep their hands to themselves!!!!!!! you get to tell them how to set the machine, not the other way around. if they want to make changes they need to tell you why and explain every little detail.

all the settings on the gambro machine should be set right after hook up and not touched, unless there is a reason eg: crashing, pressures to high/low,reduce your fluid removal, cause your gonna crash other wise.
next time a nurse fiddles with the dials ask why."information is power"
