I just got an email from my sister-in-law (husband's sister) that she is a 3/6 antigen match! :cheer: I'm guessing she'll admit for the remainder of her testing pretty soon! Wish her (me) luck!
-
That's great - I am hoping things work out! :2thumbsup;
-
Got my fingers crossed for you!
-
Kelly, yeah!! You certainly have been on an up and down ride the past few months. I am praying this turns out to be a big green light and you get that new kidney soon. :cheer: We are all your cheerleaders :cheer: We want you to get that kidney quicky :2thumbsup;
-
Of course I wish you luck...I would anyway but all the more since we're in exactly the same situation. My sister-in-law (my brother's wife) is coming up here hopefully in September to do her testing.
:bestwishes;
-
Thanks for the wells wishes everyone!
Monrein, that is so cool! Isn't it amazing? I never in a million years would have thought this sis-in-law would have tested. My brother's wife has offered, but she's been my sis-in-law for 26 years! My husband's sister has only been my sis-in-law for 10 years. It's great! I'll never look at her the same way again - Transplant or not!
Thanks again! I'll keep you all posted!

Best of luck~

I visited my amazing sis-in-law (potential donor) yesterday while she was in the hospital. At that time she had finished her required blood work, had her chest x-ray and was in the process of her 24-hr. They put in an IV just before we left for the CT of the kidneys to be done today. I haven't heard from her yet, so I'm not sure if she's still there or not. Apparently, they were running 2 hrs late yesterday because of the receiving of evacuee's from Galeston/Houston area. I'm not sure if they are running on schedule today or not. Probably not.
She originally had told me she was a 3/6 antigen match, but come to find out she is a 4/6 antigen match. Even better! I'm staying positive!
My concern now is this darn cough! I can't seem to shake this cough and allergy symptoms (runny nose and drainage). Even if they do approve her we're going to have to wait until my cough is gone. I think the "committee" meets on the 26th, so we have some time.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
Well, it's 5:45 p.m. and I just got a call from her and she's still at the hospital! She's waiting for the doctor to come in and discuss her tests and then discharger her. I guess they're still running late due to evacuee's.
-
I am surprised they do a CT scan already - I think most centers do this after all the other labs are good and ready to move forward.
-
Well, they do the CT scan last. All other tests were performed yesterday. They would have had her lab results this a.m., as well as her 24-hr urine results. They did the CT at 2:30 p.m. today.
-
That is wonderful news KellyT. I will be praying everything goes well.
Love, Mimi

Cool! Hope you get some good news soon! Fingers and toes crossed! :thumbup;

I'm expecting them to "deny" her. They are sending her to the "committee" on Wednesday anyway. Apparently she had protein in her 24-hour urine (200 mcg) and their cut-off is 150 mcg. They denied my first donor (brother) when he had 168 mcg.
I'm starting to get discouraged.
-
kellyt :cuddle; don't get discouraged. You have to have hope. :grouphug;
-
Kelly, I want this to happen for you so much. :cuddle; Hang in there.
-
Screw it! I'm ready for Vegas!!!!!!!! :2thumbsup;
-
That a girl! :yahoo;

Kelly, you already know my view---just keep doing exciting things and living large. I'm still praying for a good kidney for you, but in the meantime, there is Vegas! :clap;
