Currently with my PKD I am able to pass urine, once the kidneys fail with PKD are you still able to pee?
-
I don't have PKD, but excessive scarring will eventually cause total renal failure and then you don't pee at all. I haven't peed a drop for almost 3 years.
-
My kidney failure is from juv. diabetes. I can still go a little, but not much. Everyone is different, and some people never stop; others don't have a drop. Enjoy what function you have while you have it, and don't worry too much if it starts to go away.

i have pkd have been on dialysis ( hemo) for 17 months, stopped peeing after 12 months , so enjoy why you can ;D
-
I'm regular CKD and my urine output hasn't dropped much. I do take some natural diuretics to help out.
-

:bow; drink while you still can,enjoy it
have a drink or 3 for those of us on restrictions :beer1;

This is no way a dumb question it's probably one of the most common questions asked by patients who are new to dialysis. Please, don't be afraid to ask any question you want, nobody here will critisize you, we are here to help with any questions about this disease.
I have PKD and have been on dialysis for 2 years now. I have full urine function and if anything I'd say that it has increased rather than decreased. Every one is different but they do say that PKD patients tend to keep their residual function longer than is the case with other types of renal failure.

I do not have PKD but have been on dialysis for just over 2 years. I might pee upwardly of 300 ml a day (which is not much, but when I get the urge it feels like I have had 6 beers! but, I only get the excitement of 100 ml or so)...Boxman

Geez...you must either have a really big bladder or spend all day on the toilet if you pee 300L per day :sarcasm;
I'm guessing you meant milliliters instead of liters. :)

my experience is I pee less - a lot less
for about 6 months at the start of D - I had to pee real bad within the first 2 hours of D
now I may go once or twice a day
I miss peeing and being about to get by with more fluid
my doc told me I would pee less but he did not tell me it would be this much
-
I've found that I pee much less for about 24 hrs. after dialysis. Then it goes back to normal. Sometimes I think my body is just rehydrating.
-
Stopped peeing about 2 weeks before I started dialysis and have not pee'd since that time.
-
Thanks . . . I'm not on dialysis yet and only pee maybe 3 times a day. I've been doing alot this summer knowing it won't be available next year. I LOVE watermelon and have eaten alot this summer.

Sometimes when Cujo and I go for a walk, he has to stop and pee on every tree. I just stand there and watch, wishing I could too.
