Title: A Little Bummed...
Post by: kellyt on August 01, 2008, 01:52:42 PM
The dialysis clinic that is close to my home that I THOUGHT my doctor said did nocturnal doesn't.  I guess he was just telling me that there is a clinic near my home.  My closest centers would be downtown (maybe 20-30 minute drive if there is no problems with traffic) and New Braunfels, TX (a large "town" about the same drive time, but probably further distance.

<sign>   I go downtown to see my Neph, but now three times a week on a fixed schedule!  Bummer!    But I still think nocturnal would work best for me.  I guess I'll drive them both and see how they go.  I may go to the downtown clinic tonight for a visit.

Remember you will be going at about 8PM and leaving about 4AM.  Usually no traffic at 4 in the morning??

I've been wanting to talk to you about nocturnal, Rerun.  I've read that you "hate it less".  Fortunately and unfortunatley, I don't have anything to compare it to.  I think it would work well for me, though.  It is true that your diet is more "normal" than if you do the 3-4 hr runs?

Do the math.  9-12 hours a week versus 24 hours a week.  It is going to filter more toxins and be more gentle sucking off the extra fluid.  I'm OFF blood pressure meds.  I don't take binders unless I am having a glass of milk.  YES... MILK!   ;D  I have played around with the Phos foods and I con only have 1 8oz carten of milk a week.  But that beats the hell out of none.  I still watch what I eat, but my numbers seem to be good.  It would be awesome if they would put me on 1k but they insist on 2k.  If I were on 1k I'd go eat a watermelon.

I don't crash anymore.  The thing is I don't know exactly where my dry weight is because I "don't" crash anymore.  I just keep it where it's at and I seem to be good.

I had problems because I took Labatol which is a beta-blocker for my premature heart beat.  Well that was knocking my blood pressure through the floor.  65/40.......  So now I only take a quarater of that pill morning and night and I'm fine.  I had to figure that one out myself as usual!!

Any other questions?  I feel so popular!!!    :clap;

Yes, Thank You!   I'm so happy for you, Kitkatz.  I hope you do well and enjoy the change.  I should get my answer sometime this week if he wants me to start or wait.

Rerun, are visitors allowed at nocturnal?  If so, until what time?    What kind of dinner/snack do you take for yourself?     Sorry for all the questions.

Never apologize for asking questions. This is what IHD is all about.  The questions you ask will not help you alone.  All of us need to learn about this.  Remember the buzzword at IHD - "Knowledge is POWER!"  So ask away.

And, Rerun, please answer ASAP!

I take a Nepro protine drink and one pop-tart.  This is my comfort food.  As far as visitors go it will depend on your clinic's policy.  The girl next to me (who has been transplanted) had her boyfriend come stay.  He was so cute he would sit in a chair at the end of her chair and put his head at her feet.  They had to drive 2.5 hours to get to the clinic.  Her Mom usually brought her and then she went to her aunts house to sleep until time to pick up her daughter.  But, when the boyfriend came he stayed all night.  They never messed around (darn)   :rofl;

My family and some friends have come with me just to help me get set up and then they left.
