Many in need of ride to doctor, store
For The Norwich Bulletin
Posted Jul 21, 2008 @ 12:00 AM
I am a dialysis driver three times a week, a job many could do, but few are willing. United Community & Family Services matches drivers with those in need of transportation to doctors, dentists, dialysis, grocery shopping or a friend in need. We provide help for those with physical limitations, those who are sight impaired or have oxygen assistance.
During the past four years as a driver, I feel like a friend to many of the passengers I am driving. Some were veterans unable to get help from other places.
A senior myself, helping other seniors can be personally rewarding. Friendship to the frail and elderly who are most in need, and their appreciation for a job well done is the best reward possible. Our service also includes Sundays for holiday dialysis schedules.
Please help the program continue.
