Ran across this on the net.
Suppose to help with leg cramps. Since some on dialysis get cramps during and after dialysis, thought those that do might be interested in it since its free.
Free 2 day sample of Hyland's Leg Cramps with Quinine.
Don't know if it works or not, but since its free, those that gets cramps might want to get the ok from the doc and try it.

Quinine is also found in tonic water. It's quite bitter so you might want to add a little gin or vodka.

I was on the Quinine pill for some time for restless leg syndrome (used to be used to treat Malaria) it worked great then when I went to get it filled they no longer made it. I definetly know it took care of my restless legs. Go figure something that works then they change it!

Yeah, supposedly it was taken off the market because 'it didn't get FDA approval properly'....well, Quinine has been around for centuries, and if it was something along the lines of Viagra(super commercial $$$), believe you me it would have been RUSHED into instant after-the-fact approval( and if there wasn't such a thing they'd invent it). I'm not on dialysis myself, but all day long I walk by people who are and it personally makes me really mad to think that such a simple, tried-and-true remedy can be taken away from the people who need it.
Just my :twocents;

Many years ago I took quinine while traveling in Asia, to help protect me against malaria. I got quite ill at one point and experienced a horrible episode of psychosis and hallucinations which doctors felt were possibly due to the quinine. Just awful. Never happened before or since and this side effect is fairly well documented I believe.
If I ever have to go through that again, it'll be because of some drug that will be fun and good times, not quinine. LOL

I bet you had snails you had eaten or some other exotic food chasing you in your hallucinations!

Oh, I was hoping it was raisens soaked in vodka or whatever...anyhoooo I have found the leg cramp pills at Walmart, KMart and some assorted pharmacies. I don't know if they are just selling out but the last pharmacy in ND said they go through their supplies really fast. Hopefully once NXStage starts cramps won't happen anymore eh?
