After almost 7 months, I offically have no more catheter! :yahoo;
Now I just have to wait for the two days until I can finally SHOWER! :banghead;
-
Great news!, if it was me, I would get a tagaderm and place it over the sight and be in the shower so fast it would just be a blur before your eyes........
-
well there is plastic stuff over it but I asked and they said two days. So I'll be good and probably wait til Sunday since I heal slowly...
-
Good for you Jess! :clap;
-
Good for you! Now get some new girlie shower stuff and enjoy that shower on Sunday :clap;
-
:yahoo; That's a great feeling I'm sure!
-
Hey Jess do an extra 5 minutes in that shower on Sunday for me. My cath is still there.
-
Hey, Jess-
Enjoy that shower! I bet it's the
best one you ever took! :bandance;

Enjoy your first shower! I hear people get in there and stand under the water until it turns cold after they get their caths out!!! I love showers! Congratulations! :bandance;
-
Wish In could get rid of mine :-\ Still have showers using IV300. It's been seven years.
I have a fistula but can only get one needle in.
Good luck hope everything goes alright for you :2thumbsup;
-
Well 45 minutes later, 10 lbs of dry skin off :rofl; I'm done!
My mom has one of those tankless water heaters, so it didn't get cold!
I was actually good and waited until today to take it since there was still a piece of suture hanging and i lightly pulled it and took off some of the scab. :oops;
-
Yay. I just know that shower felt good.
-
I never missed a shower even with the catheter. Just Press-n-Seal and tape. Wall LLAAA!
-
yes and a nice, long, hot shower awaits you
enjoy :bandance; :bestwishes; :2thumbsup; :welcomesign; welcome back to the shower :shy; leave your clothes on the floor
-
For those who have catheters and can't shower - what do you do? I mean I could use our handheld shower head and wash below a catheter but how do you wash your hair? I can't imagine how I could get my hair clean if I couldn't shower for a long time.
-
Jess Congratulations! I felt the same way when my permacath came out :bow; :bandance;
Gramapat, I took sponge baths at the sink. Luckily, I am I guy so I shaved off all of the hair on my head while I had the permacath.

For washing hair with a cath in, there are two good methods for me. The first is to kneel over the side of the tub and wash hair (hand held shower attachment is good but a container to fill and pour over works as well). The second method, and my personal preference is a once a week visit to the hair salon where everything is done for me and I get to catch up on the celebrity gossip magazines which I'd never buy on a bet.
-
Ok I am jealous I have only had mine in a week and God I can't wait for a shower :)
-
Never was told i could not shower with my caths. Just used IV3000 to keep the exit site dry while having a shower. Could not last a few days without a shower or to wash my hair :o
-
Kevno
I use the IV 3000 for my insulin pump...You just use over the exit site and then after shower change it??
What about the tubes that are hanging..do you have them up ??
I am curious because man can I use a shower..LOL
-
I forgot to post this..my mom got the water bill for when I got my cath out.
The water usage doubled. :rofl;
My mom laughed, I shrugged and jumped in the shower. :rofl;
-
I just bet that water bill doubled!
