Hi guys.
on monday i went through for dialysis as usual. the nurse put the bottom needle in no problem. but when she put the top one in, it did not feel right. and when they started the machine. it felt as if my arm was going to explode. definetly the worst experience so far for me.
i put ice on it for a day. and sure enough it bruised a little the next day. but by Friday the bruise suddenly spread all over the top of my arm. thankfully im not haveing any pain.
i was just wondering, what do you guys use to treat bruises on your fistula.
Thanks

Sounds like the bruise as already come out. The only thing you can do now is to wait for the bruise to go away. Do now worry this happenends time to time. There is a heparin cream you can use, the unit should have some. Which may help the bruise. I have never used it. Just let the bruise go away. It can take a couple of weeks.

it sounds like the 2nd needle infiltrated, or possible there is a blockage. were you able to complete your run?? if it is blocked it will happen again next time and it should be checked.

When I first started dialysis, my arm stayed black and blue for a couple of weeks. Now I haven't had a bruise in ages. I used ice packs for the swelling and hot compresses after the swelling was gone.
