Freak out and apologize for "hurting" me every time she pulls the hair off my arm when removing tape from my sticks but not think twice about sticking my with a 15 gauge needle in the first place? Not just one...but almost all of them do this...I find it very strange. :D
-
I've had the very same experience many times.
-
happened to me today
the tape pulling is nothing to the needles
maybe they can relate to tape pulling pain because they have felt that pain
-
funny I get the same time after time.
-
Similar problem when Ortho doctor gives me a cordisone shot-----"just a little pinch"---------yeah with a 10 inch needle! Just do it and treat me like an adult!
Twirl, you are probably right. It is just easier for them to relate to the tape.
-
I've seen patients freak out more with the tape then the needles! And you guys are probably right- I know I could relate more with the tape then the needles too!
-
TAPE! OUCH! A few times the skin as come off with the tape! That hurts :o
-
if you are using plastic tape you can rub the tape with alcohol and it will dissolve the glue and make it very easy to take off. paper tape however you just need to pull.
-
It's bloody paper tape. Now the nurse takes the tape off slowly. :'( :o :'( :o :'( Now that is a tiny bit PAINFUL :boxing;
-
I thought I was the only one who went through this phenomena.
Maybe this happens to the rest of you, too...
After ripping off the tape, they ask "Why don't you shave your arm?"
I usually respond with "Then I'd be too heavy on my other side and I'd walk funny."

:rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; :rofl;

Rob says the tape coming off is worse than the needles going in, he also has very hairy arms. I don't put his needles in, but I do take them out. I always apologize for ripping the tape off, it's just an automatic reaction to his writhing in pain and flinching. I feel horrible about it!
-
I had the problem with the tape wanting to take hair with it as well. It was bothersome for a while, but not bad enough to really do anything about it.
However, after a while, it started to really get stuck on there good, so I decided to shave my arm around my fistula, and now the tape comes of really easily. It only took a couple of mintutes to shave off the hair and it doesn't seem to be growing back that quickly. I plan to keep the area very neatly shaven.

Hubby cannot watch me take the bandaids off my arm. I usually flinch and he cannot stand to see me in pain. AWWWW!
