I got my labs done yesterday and the creatinine is just not cooperating! It was 6.7 this time. Last time I was tested (back in April) it was 6.0. I hoped it would be down. Dang. As I see it, I'll probably be in dialysis by the end of the summer.
It's a mixed set of feelings for me. On the one hand, it's a defeat because I've been fighting against dialysis for several years. On the other hand, I'm optimistic I will feel better and more energized once I start dialysis. The lethargy really gets me down emotionally. I don't like feeling so tired all the time.
Also, lately I have been getting that "metallic" taste in my mouth and the "ammonia" sensation that's been described here. It was very strange the first time I got it. But thanks to IHD I knew what it was and that was somewhat comforting.
My next appointment is June 16 with the neph. We'll see what he says.

Aw Devon, sorry to hear this, but I think you are right to look on the bright side and not see it as defeat but as a way to feel better. Fingers crossed that it might be better news on 16 June. :grouphug;

Hang in Devon. I'll be thinking of you as you prepare for the next step, whenever that comes. I kept trying to put it off too but now it's here for me so I'm working on trying to keep a good attitude and my spirits up. The fatigue is overwhelming and the metal/ammonia breath is yucky so I hope relief comes soon for you. :grouphug;

If your creatinine is 6.7, you will feel much better on dialysis. I have seen people who felt pretty good with levels that high but, for most of us, it's severe uremia. Good luck.

Devon, I'll be thinking of you. :cuddle;

:grouphug; I'm sorry Devon!

I'm sorry, Devon. I wish the number would go down, too. I, also, have the metallic taste and food tastes weird. We'll all be thinking of you on the :grouphug;
