OKay folks. Here it is the definitive question about dialysis.
-
None of those bother me.
My answer is OTHER.
-
dam everything, but mostly the fluid restrictions,just have to learn to tolerate d%$heads :Kit n Stik;
-
actually what bothers me the most is the attitude of people who should know better. the dietitian for example who told a patient's wife "if he ever eats any cheese his phosphors will never go down" stuff like that. or the technician that told me "you're loosing weight you're not eating enough protine" i've lost 22 lbs since january 08 and i've done it on purpose and my albumin is 4.2. i think you get the picture.

I voted for time put into it. When I was in-center, I used to hate that it took up my whole day, between the hour drive to get there, the waiting around to get on, the 4 hours hooked up, the 30 or 40 minutes I usually ended up holding my sites, and then an hour drive home. Home hemo doesn't bug me that much, though. Now, I spend the time here, not driving, and it's a lot shorter time. I also do it at night now, when I've had all day to get things done, and I normally would have been sitting and reading a book or watching tv anyhow. Mostly, now, I worry about taking up my partner's time, not mine.

I can't look when they put the needles in but once they're in, they don't bother me at all.
I like 99% of the people I deal with in my unit.
I have low potassium so my diet isn't bad.
I have no fluid restrictions yet.
So the only thing I really hate is the time spent on dialysis. That last hour goes by sooooo slow!

My pick... fluid restrictions
I love drinking water, go to friends for tea... a trip to Tim Hortons for a double double, I find that it is on my mind all the time...
I refuse to hate everything, that would be just to depressing for me. The time was a very close second, but hopefully when I start PD on Tuesday the time think will ease
-
The time...scheduling is a drag with both of us working fulltime and having an 8 year old.
-
Don"t need so say :sir ken;
-
I miiss tea
icy cold with lemon and no sugar
I do not know Tom Hortons but sounds interesting - wish I could go with you Kimcanada
I hate the last hour of treatment------ so slow-------
Kimcanada, do you stick yourself with needles on PD and can you swim in a pool?
please let me know how you do
I vote for fluid and I'm not too thrilled about the other things on the list....
-
i would also say that the hours spent at the unit is the worse. Especially when u cant stop bleeding afterwards , and other patients who got there after you just get up go with out any hassles.

Tim Hortons is Canada's version of Startbucks, but cheeper
Twirl, there is no needles on PD, you hook up like when you had your permacath, except its in your belly.

How about how COLD WE GET?
-
Tim Horton's is in Ohio also. Next time I'm in the state I will stop by and drink a toast to our dear Kim. :beer1; Not beer though!!
-
Awesome Paris, its a date, I will have one here. :)
-
i voted time cause we have to work and plan around our dialysis time

Fluid restriction is the hardest part for me. I gained 7 kilos over the weekend. I was very uncomfortable on Monday not to mention I looked like a pufferfish. I'm still 2 kilos over my dry weight.
