Title: IHD. Spreading the word.
Post by: monrein on May 13, 2008, 02:18:40 PM
I did a telephone interview today with someone who works for Infowell,  an information portal for patients at the University Health Network serving several hospitals in Ontario.  It was a follow-up interview to some online surveys that I'd completed about this service.

During our discussion, I told the interviewer about IHD and also about Epoman's creation of the site.  She said that she was going to check it out and see about putting the link to IHD on this portal.  I told her that I felt it was a really valuable, informative site and I also told her that, although I never met him, I thought that it would be a nice tribute to Epoman and to his vision that has been so helpful to many.

Now I just have to keep checking the portal to see whether she keeps her word.

Oh that will be awesome!  Is this portal open to the public?

Unfortunately it is just for patients of the University Health Network (CKD patients at Toronto General Hospital).  It provides info about kidney disease, renal diet, meds etc. but the most useful thing is that I can access all my blood work results and reports like biopsies or whatever is done.  I sometimes see my lab results before my doctor.

It's pretty new Kim and there are of course improvements to be done.  One thing I've suggested is that I'd like to see ALL my labs in there.  Right now, they only input ones done at the hospital and most of mine are done at an outside lab.  They're hoping to change that.  I also suggested a renal recipe section featuring some ethnic foods because we have so many different cultures here in Toronto that we should capitalize on their adaptations to the most boring diet on earth.

Ask your hospital about it Kim.  It's called the Infowell Portal.  I don't see why they couldn't bring it to Halifax.

We really appreciate you thinking of IHD in this practical way.   Epoman would have given you a trophy!!  He loved people to introduce IHD to other websites, etc.

The dietician at my center say this site is a great way to spend some time.  She figured out who I am rather quickly.  Now how in the world?
