Title: Catheter Cover
Post by: bjl209 on May 07, 2008, 08:00:23 AM
I have heard about a catheter cover that locks the connection. This sounds very interesting to me. I have tried to find information on this idea but have not been able to find any concrete information.

Does anyone currently use on of these catheter connection covers? (aka locking-boxes, clamshells, etc.)
Anyone know where they come from?
Are they specific to your catheter?

Please help me find this information. Thanks  ???

Not sure what you are after but 'clamshells' are used for CAPD

Look into types of permanent catheters for dialysis. There is one type that locks a needle into place, then locks a cap over it when not in use.

I was actually specifically talking about when the catheter is connected to the bloodline in HD. I have heard that people use plastic covers or something to secure their connection instead of just tape. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard about this technique and what its all about?

thanks
