Hello everyone! My name is Phillip (as you could probably tell by my user name), and my girlfriend used to be on dialysis and has ESRD b/c of Lupus... so I figured I'd sign up here as she told me about the site (she is a member), so I could learn even more about everything than she has already told me, and to learn how to support her should she have to go on dialysis again in the future. I also want to understand everything that she went through, so when she talks to me about it, I might be able to know how to respond, and be empathic/sympathetic

Welcome Phillip to ihatedialysis.com,
Good to see your interest in learning about ESRD and the possibilities of dialysis, to help your girlfriend, what a lucky girl she is to have you. Take your time reading and feel free to post often.

I am his g/f. I asked him to join this site since you all are family to me and I want him to understand why I am the way I am with alot of things and when I do go back on dialysis it would be nice for him to be able to understand it. I have explained alot, but there is always more to learn.

my brother was on dialysis for a few years before he passed away and he hated it.
the nurses never listened to him when he told them that the needles didnt feel right, and they were doing it wrong whenever he said it hurt.
dialysis is a boring time and it drags for the person.
try and keep them entertained, magazines, transportable games and wotever she enjoys.
and stay with her. she will appreciate it.
ur a good bf =]
