I was just wondering if everyone's home looked like a Pharmacy like mine does, so how many medications do you take in a 24 hour period. I take 13 oops, I forgot my new Renal vitamins he prescribed today, 14 and that also includes my 2 insulin injections
-
Last summer before we started home hemo, Marvin was taking 16 different medications a day. On home hemo, his labs are so much better, and he's now down to 4 each day.
-
That's what I wanted to know my Nurse trainer said after we train this week for PD over the next few months I should be able to come off at least 3 0r 4.
-
Too many and i hate them all ! :puke;
-
3 blood meds for me 3 times a day along with renal tab. I guess I am lucky, could be worse.
-
oleboy, it's funny you should bring this subject up. Last night Len and I were talking about how our home looks like a Pharmacy. Both of us seem to take a fistful of pills everyday.
Len takes about 21 everyday (down from about 30 when he was on dialysis) and I take about 11. We are hoping that some of Len's pills get reduced or gone in April. We'll see.

I take 11 different drugs. Because some are more than one tablet in dosage I'd say that I take about 16 in tablets in total.
-
Oh no! Looking at everyones' tallies, it sounds like it only gets worse! I was already whining about bing a walking medicine cabinet.
Two blood pressure and I'm going to ask my neph about a diuretic when I see her in May. The swollen legs are getting very annoying.
One cholesteral
One period-prevention (progesterone)
One aspirin
One iron tablet three times/day. Getting close to needing epo shots.
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis yesterday, so I imagine I'll be adding something for that as soon as my Dr gets the report.
-
I remember in my 30's, my Mother had a basket on a side table filled with all her medicines. I thought that I would never be like that. HA! Where did I put that basket? I need it to hold all my meds! I'm only at 11--not too bad yet! Four years ago- none! Lovely kidney disease :rofl;
-
Good question!
I take eight different meds each day. The latest was for parathyriod issues associated with kidney failure, Kemplar. Sounds like something they use for bulletproof vests!
I knew I was in serious shape when I bought one of those multi-part trays that hold all my meds for a week with compartments for morning, noon, late day and evening. So far, I only use morning and late evening so I consider myself lucky.

I've got 4 prescriptons and 3 over-the -counter...every Wednesday I dose them out into 3 week-long pill cases, so I don't have to remember each and every day. It ain't great, but it's manageable.
-
3 medications here.

I take 25 pills a day

I take 7 meds a day, plus iron and a multivitamin daily and 50,000 IU of vitamin D once a month. Altogether, 17 pills a day plus the vitamin D (and some pain meds from a headache caused by a recent spinal tap.) This is post-transplant; I took way more meds pre-transplant.
-

you can cross that one off, kidney patients can't take anything now on the market for treatment or prevention of osteoporosis. aren't we just so lucky :sarcasm;

Jenna takes quite a bit, spread over 4 times per day.
Post-transplant: 11 different meds totaling 25 pills. This includes her immunosuppressants, vitamins, minerals, and aspirin.
