Post by: oleboy on March 14, 2008, 03:52:13 PM
:o Went to my local clinic today arrived feeling a little down had to miss my dialysis on Thursday because of eye surgery, was going to do today and tomorrow to get back in the cycle, took weight and temp b/p standing and seating, brought over my stick pack, new girl felt for best site, advised I would feel a little stick.(pinch an its in) nurse advises she would cut back on Heparin because of surgery last date, new girl says will feel a little pinch, Then BOOM I knew right off she had missed and missed bad,  every pulse beat it throbbed  I told her something is wrong she looked at it, an said yes I think I missed( you THINK), how can you miss a knot like that on my lower arm? I think I am a pretty tuff guy but that hurt, Nurse said we can try another sick or try again tomorrow, I choose tomorrow, now I set here with an ICE pack on my fore arm an get still throbbing  5 hours later , I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Oh my goodness!!  Bad day at Blackrock!!  Keep that ice pack in place and take some extra strength Tylenol.
Praying everything goes alright tomorrow.

Marvin said those infiltrations suck!  Hopefully, by this morning (Sat) the throbbing in your access has gone.  He said if the same girl comes to your chair today, ask to speak to the nurse in charge.  Explain nicely what happened yesterday (you know she was doing the best she can, but it was a mess).  Tell the charge nurse you HAVE to have a treatment today (because of missing Thursday).  Ask her if she can stick you (or someone else with lots of experience).  Even the experienced ones can infiltrate, but they're usually not as likely.

Hope all goes well today.  Let us know how you do.

Hope your arm is more comfortable and that you've had a better experience today.  :big hug:

It hurts like a MF when that happens, I know.  It happened to me once before and I saw stars, I wasn't given the choice by them to come back.  They stuck me somewhere else and it was okay.  AT my place it takes something like a blown out fistula to get them to not stick you again.
