Is it normal to feel itchy at graft access and sometimes tingling pain? I know i read somewhere in the post about getting infection in the access site, but I can't find it again. Nanay is starting to itch at her graft access and sometimes mild pain. I am afraid this may be the start of infection. What is MRSA? Thank you for sharing.

Hi Cris, My Dad has a chest access and it itches all the time. He has tried everything (and so have the nurses) but nothing seems to get rid of it. It drives him mad and is particularly bad at night, we've tried dozens of creams and different dressings. He is seeing the Dr today (he visits the unit once a month - the Dr not Dad!) and I'll let you know if they suggest anything that works. He is tested most weeks for infection (swab taken of access site) and - so far (we need a fingers crossed icon please) - has remained clear. Hope you can find something that helps, I;lll certainly share any information I get.
Take care, Rose

My fistula arm gets itchy (lots of alcohol pads, betadine and tape will do that) and it did get infected...they put me on some mega-antibiotics and it's doing better. After the sites close up, I try to keep the arm lotioned up so the skin doesn't dry out as much...that seems to be the main culprit.
