Let's think about this...silk jammies, a boa, and an orgy in the hospital...YEP, it's going to be plenty HOT in Milwaukee tomorrow! Hate I'm going to miss it :popcorn;! Have a good time -- and Kit and Sluff need to make sure our BoxjammieMan is being taken care of! Thinking about you, Box, and praying that everything will go well!
Now, what are the rest of us going to do if they throw Kit and Sluff out of the hospital for causing a scene?

Hehehehehe! Almost got stuck in a snow drift. Brrr! Milwaukee is cold. On Friday I walked home from a crazy dialysis session in -4 weather. Oh my gracious was I cold!

Okay folks here is the Milwaukee Trip Tale by Kitkatz- Part I
Flew out on Wednesday March 5. U.S. Airways into Phoenix. Got to walk the airport and board another plane on to Milwaukee. Smooth flights. For some reason I always get the people who do not want to talk on the airplane. So I read a book and kept my big mouth shut pretty much all the way there. I love to talk to people. Why does that happen to me? So I arrive and so does my luggage and I board the airport connection to my daughter's school. I get there and her boss takes me to the CC- the student study building- and we have hot cocoa and talk while waiting for Maria to get out of class. She shows up we drop my luggage and take a tour of the campus and walk through downtown Milwaukee. Beautiful area. Lots of snow. Cold! Maria gave me a hat, gloves and a scarf and I double bundled under my coat. We had dinner at a nice Italian place. Then crashed out around midnight.
Thursday I met up with Sluff. He drove down to Milwaukee in his wife's nice car. We went to the Art Museum and roamed round looking at everything for an hour or so. Then we went to see the Boxman. He had just gotten out of surgery but was talking to us. He actually looked pretty good for someone who had as extensive procedure as he had done that morning. I let him wear the feather boa and left him some feathers. Hahaha! Then we went out a German place for lunch. It was great food and conversation. Thanks bunches Sluff. He dropped me off and I promptly took a nap for a few hours. Maria got back to the dorm and we talked, watched TV and she studied a little bit. She had done most of her studying on Tuesday so she could visit with me. Computer dork! The girl practically lives on her computer while at school.
Friday was dialysis day and I walked in the cold a mile over to the center. I must have been crazy! Then I get on the machine and my blood pressure decides to crap out on me. I felt fine, but the blood pressure went down down down. So after they took me off of the machine I sat for an hour just waiting for that damned blood pressure to come back up. We took our time and they let me sit. I bet if they knew I was walking back to the dorm they would not have let me go. I just did not tell them I was walking. I got out into the cold pulled on my woolies and put one foot in front of the other and made it back to the CC where I met up with Maria and we went to the Pink Party her sorority was putting on for breast cancer awareness that week. It was fun and the girls did a good job. We left early because my eyes were starting to spin and I took another nap until ten and then got up till midnight.
We played Lego Starwars on the game console she has in her room. We are goofy people.
Saturday we got up and walked out into a half an inch of snow to catch the Megabus to Chicago.
More in another post. Now for some pics.

Chicago Land Milwaukee Part II
So off we go trudging into the snow off to catch Megabus to Chicago. Megabus is great! It cost us all of 5 dollars each way to go to Chicago from Milwaukee. My daughter says to me "Oh this is not bad snow only four to five inches today!" Holy smoke! So off we go and we take the bus into Chicago to the Union Station. We got off the bus and walked over to Lou Mitchell's Restaurant to eat. Lordy did we get served some food. Omelets with apples and cheese and greek toast. Oink! Then we went to our hotel and in spite of being ridiculously early they let us check in. It was a beautiful hotel room on the 32nd floor. Beautiful view. It was the Radisson on Huron Avenue right off of Michigan avenue. Then it was off to the Shedd Aquarium where we saw the fishies and the Dolphin show. Then back on the bus to the hotel where we took a nap. Then off to dinner with a friend of mine who lives and works in Chicago. She took us to the Grand Lux Cafe. A beautiful place with great food. We visited and had a great time talking and laughing. Then she took us on a driving tour of down town Chicago. The views were spectacular at night! Then back to the hotel and sleep by one in the morning.
The next morning Sunday we were up pretty early and out on foot in downtown Chicago. We walked everywhere and rode the bus system. We asked people on the street for a good place to eat and go directions to a place with a huge steak and eggs plate. We ate again really well. Sounds like we like to eat! Then we did what every red blooded American woman does in a big city- We went shopping. Sears, Macys, Old Navy. Wherever caught our fancy! Then off to catch the Megabus again back to Milwaukee. Slept some on the bus. Got in around 8 stayed up talking to Maria till Midnight, off to bed.
That was the whirlwinds in Chicago.

Milwaukee- Part III
Monday we woke up. Maria went off to class and I headed by taxi, this time, to dialysis. My blood pressure crashed again the entire time I was on the machine. Sigh. I got off took a taxi back to campus. Took a nap then joined Maria after her classes for the Talent night the clubs put on. The MC had some really tacky jokes to tell and the variety skits were funny. Maria did the Macerena with her sorority sisters. They were funny. My pics did not come out in the dark very well. Then back to the dorms. We talked and had tea and relaxed.
Tuesday Maria and I spent the day together walking all over downtown Milwaukee. I bought myself a tea set in a glass shop downtown. I love glass and plates so it was great. We wandered in and out of places and had a great time. I took her and her roommate out to dinner that night. Had a nice day with my daughter. We also went to the Museum of Work the college has built.
Wednesday= I flew back on Continental through Houston. we were late out of Houston due to maintenance difficulties. In the van in Milwaukee I met a country music guy who is just starting out. Nice person Last name of Markham. Home by 9p.m. Glad to be back in warm sunny California.
Well there it is- My Trip.

Kitkatz,
Great pics! :thx; for sharing. Like I told you before, you are one tough cookie to survive -4 degrees.
-
I really had a good time. It was one of those relaxing trips. We did not do anything we had to do. I took several naps. I bet my daughters room mates wondered who the sleeping person in their room was? Maria is a sweet adult. She carried my overnight bag through half of Chicago for me. I was a real baby walking all around the city. She was really patient with me. It was nice to hang with her.
-
just saw this. sounds like you had a good time. About walking in the cold, we here in WI walked to school uphill both ways every day in the winter. Piece of cake. -4 is balmy ;D isn't the bean cool. and the chicago aquarium is awesome...Boxman
-
Kitkatz, it sounds like you had a great trip and the pictures are wonderful. I love reading your stories. :thx;

we were in New Mexico last spring break
it was late at night
my husband, who looks like the coach he is, and my son, looks the football player he is, got out at a motel that had a vacancy
we drive a big van and we had a trailer hitch on the back with a small UHaul trailer
I was in the van with my two other children
the hotel manager said we could not have a room because people with Uhauls always carry drugs
we had to move on
the only drugs I had were in my purse and were dialysis related
I'm thinking it we had drugs why in the hell would we place them in a trailer that could become unattached
