Will start hemo tomorrow Neph. came to see me at the clinic while my PD was being flushed by the nurse who had called him because of my appreance and my complaints of syptoms. First choice was the local hospital for emergency dialysis or next day at this clinic, I chose tommorrow at the clinic at 11:15. Doctor said 2 hours slow pull and again Mon. & Tues and then stsrt every other day hemo until I can use my PD cath.

oleboy,
My Marvin said don't sweat the hemo treatment tomorrow. He said you might not feel better at the beginning of the treatment, but you should feel better after the treatment. Marvin has been on hemo for 13 years now, and while he doesn't love it, it is the type treatment that works for him (he tried PD -- but couldn't get that damned catheter to work right -- two caths, no luck). Every clinic Marvin has ever been to has a tv for each patient, although Sat. morning programming sometimes sucks, you can occasionally pick up a good movie or a ballgame (usually afternoon). Lots of people at the clinics also read, listen to radio (headphones a must), or sleep. Carry a pillow and blanket (those clinics are always cold) -- if you end up not needing them, you just carry them back home. Don't sweat it -- hemo isn't as bad as some people say.

Good luck--oleboy !!! :thumbup; Think i'm right behind you !!!

Good Luck, Oleboy!
My husband also does hemo. As mentioned,
a pillow and blanket are a must! If you like
to read, bring a book along to help spend the
time.
Let us know how you are.

Hope it went well...as was said, you can make the time work for you but it's just as easy to sleep or veg out with bad TV. And I do hope you got the blanket message in time...I was always cold in center.
