From Jay Chapel:
-
Sluff- your candle was really beautiful- you have a great way with words. :cuddle;
-
That he does, Glitter, that he does.
When it comes from the heart, it's amazingly poetic. Sincerity will always ring true.
Beautiful obituary. I'm glad they used a picture with Sam, Susie would have wanted it like that...
"See??? I told you!! He is gorgeous!!" I can hear her saying that!!!
-
thank you for the compliment about my candle.
-
I'm glad both their pictures posted. Susie and Sam are a perfect match. Beautiful couple.
-

Thanks Karol. :cuddle;

Prayers said and a sadness prevails even though I've only been a member of this board for a week.
Susie welcomed me onto this board. I'm so sad that I have to bid her farewell on the same board.
God Bless Susan Trevino and her family.
Many tears from this end as I type this post.

Okarol called me from the viewing to let me know that Susie is wearing her Raiders Shirt and her Tiara. There were many tears amongst a little laughter about the tiara. As I spoke to Karol, Paris showed up and I was able to speak to her for a little while as well. Karol and Vandie rode up together and I think Kitkatz will be there tomorrow. I feel awful for not being there as I'm sure many of you feel the same, but I take great comfort in the way we are represented.
-
Thank you, Karol, Vandie, and Kit ---
I love the thought that Goofynina's wearing her tiara! That's precious and so appropriate.
-
Thank you Okarol, Vandie, Kit and Paris :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; :-*
-
I just got home. I am so grateful for Vandie and Adrian for coming to pick me up and drive the 4 hours each way to say good bye to Goofynina. Paris and hubby arrived after a long flight and then drove in from San Francisco. Susie's family really "gets" her - the Raiders shirt and tiara made seeing her a little easier. Her nieces spent a lot of time making 2 poster boards filled with photos - Epoman was on there too. Sluff had sent a beautiful cross of white and red roses, that said "Our Beloved Admin." Sam had made a cd that was playing at the viewing, which included songs like Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" & "Tears In Heaven", "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers, "Susie Q" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World", to name a few. That had us all sobbing. We were welcomed like family and Susie's sister Terri invited us to join them for dinner at a local restaurant. Afterwards we went to the rosary at a beautiful old Catholic Church. I have a few photos, as does Vandie and Paris. I will try to post tomorrow.
I still can't get used to the idea that she's gone. Man, I miss that girl!
-
Karol, how was Sam holding up? I just cannot imagine how hard this is for him.
Paris -- what an extrordinary effort you made to go to say good bye to Goofynina! Thank you for representing us, too!
-
Praying for strength for Sam today. :grouphug;
-
To Sam and Susie's family, my thoughts are with you today. :grouphug;
-
I want to thank all the members of the IHD family who are representing us. You know how it hurts me that i can't be there. Raiders' shirt and tiara!!! That is my Goofynina!!
-
thank you to those who could be there to represent ihd.
-
Thanks for those who were able to represent us.
I wish I could be there also.
Paris, I am so glad you were able to make that long trip there.
Yes, Raiders shirt and a tiara sounds very fitting.
She will be so missed.
My prayers are wiith all, especially Sam and the family.
-
A :grouphug; to everyone.
-
As others have already said thank you very much to those that were able to go and represent the IHD family. Just as visiting her while she was ill meant alot to the rest of us that could not go so does this. As soon as I read the Raiders shirt and Tiara I immediately formed that picture in my head. What a perfect way to remember her, though the thought makes me smile and cry at the same time Thank you all for your efforts.
-
...I feel awful for not being there...
Hermano, you are there - your heart, your soul... your love for Susie.
...as are so many of us. That room is crowded beyond belief, well, not really beyond belief. Anyone knowing Susie would expect that no room would have sufficient capacity for everyone wanting to "walk her home".
Sluff,
:grouphug;
Rolando and Alene
...and as Sluff said, IHD was well represented. Thank you!
-
1. Chapel for visitation
2. Italian restaurant - Paris and hubby, and Vandie. I just know Goofynina would have tried to speculate as to WHAT Paris is describing there >:D
3. The church, filling up before the rosary
-
Thank you for the pictures Karol. The chapel is quite impressive.
-
Here are the posters that the family made with all of the photos of Susie's life and also the beautiful arrangement that Sluff/Sludge sent.
If you look in the middle of the second poster, you can see a photo of Bill and Susie.
-
Thank you for posting the pictures and thank you for representing our IHD family. I know Susie would be very proud.
-
Oh, my, that cross arrangement was gorgeous. Sluff, you outdid yourself.
-
Vandie, Karol, Sam and Paris. And the three girls after the rosary.
-
Thank You Vandie girl.
Love ya
-
As sad as this day was, it was a blessing to spend the time with IHD family. Sam is such a great guy. Paris is a gem.
I am so glad you had your camera Vandie. It was so good to see you - you look incredible since your transplant!
If any of you have a chance to meet up with other IHD members - do it. It really makes a difference in your life.
-
Those are wonderful pitures.
Thank you for sharing them with us.
The cross/floral arrangement is beautiful Sluff.
It is still so hard to believe isn't it?, even with pictures.
-
Thank You Vandie girl.
Love ya
Right back at you, my friend.
xoxo
-
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. Sluff the flowers were awsome. All the women looked wonderful :thumbup;
-
Okarol and Vandie, thanks for posting the pictures. :grouphug; Sluff, your choice of flowers were beautiful.
-
OMG! Sluff, you really know Susie, with your flower cross, Susie surely adores that as her tiara. The ladies all look beautiful, who says they have (had) kidney problems? They just simply shine.
-
The pictures are fantastic!! Thanks for sharing. You did a super job with the flowers Sluff. Thanks. The church is very impressive. She must have had so many family and friends.
-
I am so touched by the IHD members' outpouring of love for our Goofynina. Thank you so much, Sluff, Okarol, Vandie, Paris, Kitkatz - all of you who represented us in some way. It made me feel just that bit nearer. Thanks too for the pictures. You guys look good together, as usual.
Sluff, Sulfa, Sludge, Fluffy - those flowers were befitting our Dame!
I am so touched with the fact that her family understands our connection to her, and appreciates it! She belongs to all of us!
-
Very well said Bajanne, IHD has the most amazing people! :grouphug;
-
BTW, am I the only person who thinks that Okarol and Vandie look like sisters?
-
It was so great that the three of you were there to represent our love and friendship that we all have for Susie. Paris - amazing and wonderful that you traveled across the country to be there! I had some hope that I could be there since I was in Las Vegas this week for business. Unfortunately my schedule was very tight and it didn't work out. I was dissapointed to be that close and not be able to work it out. My thoughts and prayers were with Sam and all who love and miss Susie and will continue to be.
Thanks so much for the photos!
-
Dear Family, What a privilege it was to be able to be with Karol and Vandie as we gathered to honor Susie. As we pulled into the Chapel parking lot, I could see Karol. She was talking with Sluff, so I was able to talk with him for a moment. Then we went inside and there was Vandie. My husband stood back and watched. He said it was like three sisters coming together and couldn't believe I had not met Vandie in person before. Later he told me that he now "gets it". He understands that the bonds that tie us are even stronger than blood. We know each other more than our relatives may know us. It helped to put my arms around Sam. His hugs are as big as Susie's. It was wonderful meeting her Mother, sister (she is gorgeous!) and brother. This family is amazing. The love they have for each other is so apparent. Her brother, John, has one of the friendliest faces I have ever seen. They all made us feel like we were part of their family and told us repeatedly that they realized that IHD was her family too. The tiara was so perfect! Her sister said they wanted to put the "Drama Queen" sash on her, but her mother thought that wasn't a good idea! It was great to hear them share stories about her. Sharing dinner with them was like sitting with your own family.
Susie's funeral was lovely, peace filled, and comforting. Music filled the beautiful space; Here I Am, Lord - Amazing Grace - How Great Thou Art.
Then a solo: I am here, standing right beside you
I am here, do not be afraid.
All I could think about was how scared Susie was before surgery and how comforting those words were now.
The priest spoke of how we should live our lives; we should be humble and not look for material things
we should share all that we have with others
we should be kind to all we meet
and we should be happy. He said those 4 things were very true of Susie. I think we all agree.
The soloist sang Ava Maria, the priest continued with prayers and then it was time for Holy Communion. We were sitting in about the 12th row and I hadn't looked behind us until then. There were at least 350 people there, maybe close to 400. And that is not counting the IHD family that I could feel all around me. Susie lived in a close, loving community and I think I know why What a Wonderful World was a favorite song. It was her life." Skies of blue, friends shaking hands, red roses, too". She lived a couple of blocks from the church, in a lovely home that was filled with love. After the service, Mary and Sam invited us to Sam's house, but it was time to head for San Francisco and also time for her family to be together in her home. I am grateful that my husband accepted the fact that I felt compelled to be there. (I am grateful for his flying benefits!)
Yes, Vandie and Okarol look very much like they could be sisters. I am so glad they were there. They are both so much fun and doesn't Vandie look great with that new kidney?! We looked like the three muskateers--always together, always holding hands or linking arms, laughing at the same moments and then crying together. They are two wonderful ladies.
This is long and I am still catching up on rest. The red eye is harder than it use to be!! But, it was time I will always cherish. Love you, Susie and I will see you again. :cuddle;
-
Thanks for the wonderful recap Paris. :grouphug;
-
Thanks Paris and also thanks to Karol and Vandie for being there for us all :grouphug;
-
BTW, am I the only person who thinks that Okarol and Vandie look like sisters?
Our okarol is beautiful. That is a compliment to me if we look like sisters. I will tell you that having only met Karol once or twice or three times before and Paris for the first time, it was like being with family. I love these women.
Thank you Bajanne. xoxo
-
Thanks for sharing the pictures - I love to see faces. Sam's hair is longer than the last picture I saw of them, so I didn't recognize him. You girls all look so healthy!!
-

I was feeling the same way, I am flattered to be considered Vandie's sister - HEY! She is my IHD sister! I guess that's what you can see!
Seeing Paris was great. I know she went through a great deal to get there in time. When Sam spotted her in the chapel he said "Ohh Paris" and gave her a big hug. Thank you for everything Paris.
-
Paris, what a wonderful experience for you. From what you wrote, I could tell that going to say good-bye to our Goofynina truly touched your soul. Thank you for sharing the experience with us, and thank you for going to represent us. The service sounds like it was beautiful -- so fitting for a beautiful lady.
-
Paris..... thankyou for sharing that from the many of us that couldnt be there because of distance.
-
We have some very special people here. I was so just thrilled that we had representation from our family here. Let me modify that.
ALL our people here are special, we are strong, loving, and compassionate people here. I am just so honored to be part of this family.
-
I am just so honored to be part of this family.
I am, too, MyssAnne. I'll stick my neck out enough to say I THINK GOOFYNINA WOULD BE PROUD OF ALL OF US -- for pulling together, for leaning on each other, for still finding a laugh or two in the midst of all this sadness.
-
Thanks Paris for sharing with us.
It sounds like it was a beautiful service.
It is wonderful that you were able to make the trip there.
Carol and Vandie I'm glad that you also got to attend.
-
It was my honor.
-
I forgot to write that when we were leaving Susie's town is was lunch time. My husband asked what I wanted to eat, knowing I never have a preverence because nothing tastes that good anymore. All of a sudden, I spotted an In and Out!! I want that! My husband looked surprised because I never eat hamburgers. They were Susie's favorite and I enjoyed every single delicious bite of that burger. I ate every last morsel, licked my fingers with the yummy drippy sauce and knew Susie was laughing at me. :thumbup;
-
Good girl, Paris. You can't come to Cali and not have an In n Out burger.
xoxo
-
When the Buckeyes play the championship game in Arizona the big talk (besides the game)
is the In and Out Burger. They say it's their favorite and talk about how
wonderful it is.
-
Guess what? In'N'Out Burger has spread east to Arizona and . . . . . LAS VEGAS !!!! The next time there's an IHD meet-up in Vegas, it really must include an In'N'Out meal in Susie's honor.
I keep hoping that InO will come just a little farther east to NM, but don't know if that's going to happen. T'would be heavenly, tho!
-
Vandie looks so good and well following her transplant.
-
Vandie looks so good and well following her transplant.
Oh, thanks OB.
xoxo
-
Vandie looks great! She is such a sweet soul; very compassionate and caring. We need to show her to the world as the poster child for transplants. She is the proof of how well transplants can work. I know she was tired from the trip and I don't know how she made the 4-5 hour trip back and then go to work the next morning! That was a lot of time traveling in one day. I loved her from the moment I met her.
-
All 3 of you look great and you are all beautiful, both inside and out. Thanks for all that you do for us :grouphug;
-
Goofynina's heart would be made glad with all the love outpoured at the time of her passing. This is what she was about, and what she wanted IHD to be about. The love the IHD members have for each other is just awesome!
-
I spoke with Susie's husband Sam and he wanted me to post a Thank you to all who sent cards and condolences to him. He said he appreciates them all very much.
-
Sluff, how was Sam doing?
-
Yeah Sluff, please let Sam know we are thinking of him. :cuddle;
-
Sluff, how was Sam doing?
He said up and down. He sounded good though.
Yeah Sluff, please let Sam know we are thinking of him. :cuddle;
I will. I sent him the link to Susie's memorial site in hopes that he approves. He told me we would keep in touch.
