Written by: BVI Health Services Authority
Tuesday, February 05, 2008
The Rotary Club of Road Town donated $13,104.74 to the Dialysis Unit at their weekly luncheon today.
Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club, Treasurer Ryan Geluk stated that the donation was Rotary’s contribution to help further the works of Peebles Hospital. He further stated that the donation was an additional support of World Kidney Day in recognition of the problems associated with kidney disease in the Territory.
Accepting the cheque on behalf of the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA), Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Winifred Charles-Crabbe said, “I would like to thank you (the Rotary Club of Road Town) for this donation as some twenty-seven patients that we now serve will be very pleased that you have chosen us to partner with, and present us with this special gift.” Mrs. Charles-Crabbe used the opportunity to encourage others to assist in the fight against kidney disease and diabetes.
The donation from the Rotary Club of Road Town is to assist with the purchasing of monitors and equipment for the Dialysis Unit.
The Dialysis Unit, located at Peebles Hospital, is headed by Clinical Nurse Specialist, Ms. Lynn Hodge, who manages a unit of eight nurses. The staff, who serves between thirteen to fourteen patients per day, operate on two shifts every day, including Saturdays.

[Okarol, I was able to check out the article. You see, we have two online newspapers - www.bvinews.com and www.bviplatinum.com. I don't usually check bviplatinum. Because of your posting, I was able to be the first reader to post a comment. I thanked the Rotary Club and got a chance to thank our nurses as well.]
Once again, I am so full of appreciation of our IHD family!
