I'm just curious here. During which month (of whatever year you started) did you start dialysis?

I have always been quite interested in the epidemiology of when diseases first present for diagnosis or when their initial onset takes place. It is well-established, for example, that babies born in February, and indeed at any time from very late Winter to early Spring, grow up to have a much higher than normal rate of schizophrenia. Babies which eventually become type 1 diabetics are known to be more likely to be born at a certain month in Iceland, which has been explained by the fact that at a critical period in gestation when the immune system is being formed, these mothers traditionally eat a certain meat dish heavy in phosphates. Type 1 diabetes itself most commonly presents in the Fall, since it is brought to expression when the Fall viruses send the weak immune system of these patients into overdrive so that it destroys the beta cells of the pancreas.
I would guess that renal failure as well is disproportionately diagnosed in the Fall, when either the added stress of dealing with a virus finally pushes the patient into endstage renal failure, or when an auto-immune disease causing renal failure is sparked by a reaction to some viral infection.

For whatever reason, I remember exactly when I started Dialysis: May 16, 2004 @ 7pm. Over the years I've noticed that I've blanked out most of the traumatic events from my Dialysis past and I rarely dwell on the memories that remain.
At some point you can't dwell on your misery and you just have to let it go or it will eat you alive.

December 13, 2006. I have to know the start date because they ask it every time I sign in the hospital for a procedure, so that one is going to stick in my head like my SS number.
I started in December, but my doc wanted me on in August. I stalled!

I started on Jan. 25 '07, just a couple weeks after my 25th birthday. Some birthday present, eh?
