Hello all.Boy have I missed you.
I am finally out of the hospital staying at a friend's home.
It has been an ordeal.
All efforts to save my foot didn't work and I had to have a below the knee amputation.
It is difficult and scary right now.
In the hospital I actually developed more foot ulcers and an infection.
I was very sick and weak. My blood count dropped to 5. had to get 6 units of blood.
Then white count got high from infection.
Anyway,I am glad to be out of the hospital.
I had a nice Thanksgiving with family and friends.
I have been so blessed by friends bringing food by, helping me, taking turns staying with me.
Church friends built a weelchair ramp. I have the best friends in the world.
I am feeling better now and trying to adjust. Be glad when I get prosthesis.
I have a loaner wheelchair and got to check into getting one.
I am having physical and occupational therapy.
I hope you all had a nice holiday and have a good weekend.
I have missed you all. Keep praying for me. Thanks.

Hi OB, It's good to see you back. I am sorry that you were not able to keep your foot. Rolando, too, has had to deal with that (right aka) so if you have any questions just ask.
Rolando has an electric wheelchair supplied by Medicare For personal freedom, the electric wheelchair is best for Rolando. He also has several regular wheelchairs for various uses (purchased used, new, and given to us) which we use when we're together. He does not currently have a prosthesis and is becoming quite adept at using a transfer board.
I hope you heal quickly and you're up and around on that prosthetic leg real soon. You have experienced a loss which must be mourned. We are here for you. But, it sounds like you are positive and upbeat. That will help you meet this challenge.
