What is a regular every day food and/or drink you miss?

What is a Holiday food and/or drink you'll miss?

I miss potatoes and avocados most.  I also miss "adult" cereals.  And dairy.  For drinks, I just miss the unlimited amounts of whatever I wanted.

For the holidays, I'll be missing ham and eggnog most.

I've missed the nearly unlimited amount of milk I used to drink (I'd go through a full gallon in two to three days). Now that I do daily dialysis I can drink more of it, but I still can't go crazy. No particular holiday food that I miss, because again, I can eat most things (in moderation) with daily dialysis. .

Everyday stuff, dairy for sure. At first I thought chocolate would be the hardest thing to give up, but I'm finding the dairy nearly impossible!

Holidays, I'm sure gonna miss all those chocolate cookies and nuts.

I miss the French fries and coke and pizza and potato chips and orange juice and ...........  I could go on for a page or two but I guess I will stop here. I just miss all the good stuff. Sometimes I would just like those with good kidneys try to do it for a week. They just don't understand !!

Being on PD i am able to eat more of the things i am supposed to be restricted of, but not much,  but when on hemo, i remember craving vined ripened tomatoes with salt, and a tall glass of cold milk, or even a bowl of cereal, (due to lactose intolerance, i cant have dairy anyways anymore)  :-\  :thumbdown;

Cheese, cheese, and more cheese.

I miss all the holiday treats made with nuts.  My sis makes these roasted, sugared pecans with bacon crumbles.  Salty and sweet and they totally toasted my phos last year, so I'm going to have to skip them this year!

Milk definitely Milk.  I have thought that if I could only have another transplant for a few days so I could chug a few gallons of Milk it would be worth it.

Holiday foods I'll have a tiny bite of everything but a regular size slice of pumpkin pie.  I don't care I'm having it.

 :ausflag;  I have never had eggnog or Pumpkin pie. Am I missing something?  8)

It's too hot here at Christmas time. We have salads and turkey cooked in the weber BBQ.

Being on PD I am lucky to still enjoy potassium loaded foods. But I have trouble when it comes to dairy and nuts.  >:D

Oh...... and salt and Vinegar potato chips    :bow; :bow;

Pass the Caltrate please.

Well, I don't miss anything now. I did miss fluids though, unlimited fluids.

For Holidays, nothing.. because I was on PD so I cheated everyday, I don't see why I wouldn't cheat for a holiday if I was cheating daily anyways.  :lol;

Orange juice, I used make my own orange juice every day. And i'd eat oranges all the time, at two or three a day.
This topic is depressing.

Cheese. Sausage. Pickles. My favorite snack was cheese, pickles, smoked sausage on a cracker, sometimes with a dab of hot mustard. Oh I love my hot mustard.

I really miss CHEESE!  I never realized how many dishes I made that had cheese in them.  Pizza and Coke are on the top of my list of things I want to eat after my transplant.

My potassium and phosphorus are actually on the low side right now so I got permission to eat more bananas and orange juice, just not cheese.

Now I'm hungry!

The only thing I miss is being able to drink all the fluids I want.  My diet is not particularly changed.  Thank goodness, my potassium has always been a bit low, so I can take a banana, etc. every now and then.  But I steer clear of orange juice, and that is probably because it was never a favourite.  I miss the yogurt, but I never was a milk drinker.
My dietitian always felt that you should take a small amount of some forbidden things, especially on the day that you dialyze.

What's in caffeinated coffee?

For the record Dr. Pepper, Pizza, baked potatoes, cheese, etc...

Ironically I eat much healthier now than I ever did before.

Caffeine is the answer.
I am no longer allowed to have caffeine according to the transplant center protocol because the caffeine is said to overwork the kidney's and raise blood pressure. But there is a taste and smell difference to me in cofee between caffeine and decaf.

Ah.  Well I have no working kidneys and my blood pressure is always low.  So I suppose I'm safe.
