11-Year-Old Pulled Over for Speeding
Last Update: 10/09 11:37 pm
An 11-year-old Louisiana boy is pulled over for speeding. But his parents say the youngster should be allowed to drive.
Rodney Brown says he taught his son how to drive because he suffers from diabetes and lost part of his leg and a finger.
The son was driving him home from a dialysis treatment when he was stopped by police.
"I lost my leg and he start bringing me on Mondays and Wednesday and Fridays to dialysis then he come back home and go to school," said Brown.
Police ticketed the boy for going between 80 and 100 miles an hour.

This story is really angers me. As Susie stated there are other means of transportation. Instead of the boy being ticketed the parents should be facing at the very least child endangerment charges.

I just don't understand what some people are thinking, like this guy! The kid is 11! How on earth could he even see over the wheel, while reaching the gas pedal? As far as other transportation, that may not have been an option. I grew up in a fairly big town with a hospital and dialysis center, but there was no bus service or even a taxi company in the town. Plus, We lived out in the country, about 20 minutes from town. Another thought, the boy's mother may no longer be around. I'm sure a neighbor or friend would have been willing to help out though.

I guess I have a different take on this. I know "tons" of kids that are driving at 11 - 13, especially out here in "farm" country. If they are tall enough to reach all of the controls, a lot of them are out during Harvest driving the trucks in the fields, etc. Some of them are better drivers than their Dad/Uncle/Etc. :)
