Hello Everyone - Virrat's wife Sandra here
I'm sorry to have to share the news that Chris (aka Virrat) passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on July 2 (see attached obituary). It happened very early in the morning at home the day after a wonderful Canada Day :canadaflag; BBQ with his family and the two of us watched fireworks from our balcony. He had been struggling in the early summer with side effects of the EPS he developed but things were looking up and we had even bought a house.
We did go to Barbados in March (part of the never-ending honeymoon) and had a wonderful time. Island Dialysis was great - Chris even wrote a front page story about his experiences for his local unit's newsletter (see attached PDF).
It is heartbreaking for all of us who loved him so very much. :'( He was a tremendously gifted person whose keen mind and research would have brought so much to the field of renal support. A group of us will be walking for organ donation awareness in his memory this Sept. 23 on what would have been our first wedding anniversary: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/TeamPage.aspx?EventID=11676&TeamID=43381
Thanks to all of you for being a support to him and each other.
Sandra

Sandra, I'm so sorry to hear of Chris' passing. With dialysis we all know it will be sooner than later but it is up to us to make a difference while still here. Chris made a difference. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry. You have your memories to hold on to - they don't leave. I am particularly happy that you were able to go to Barbados (my home country) and had such a great time. Thanks to Virrat for bigging up my country and posting links to the clinic and our Tourist Board.
That was a lovely picture with his obit. Thanks for sharing it with us. Did I understand that your mom was born in Barbados?
My caring thoughts and prayers will be with you on September 23. Blessings!

I have also just been reading some of Vrrats posts, Sandra I'm so sorry for your loss. I also work in a library here in Australia, to my shock there are very little resources on kidney disease in our library system so if possible I would like to change this.
Best wishes
Craig :grouphug;
