Portland Nurse Convicted After Stealing Drugs From Patient
7:42 pm PDT September 11, 2007
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Portland nurse who swapped a patient's Vicodin pills with Tylenol was convicted Tuesday.
Jennifer Green worked at a dialysis center in Portland when she stole pain medication from a client, according to authorities.
As part of her duties at the center, she performed medication reviews for clients.
In 2005, she called a client and asked him to bring in his medication to the dialysis center. Instead of reviewing the medication, authorities said, Green took the patient's Vicodin for her own use and then replaced it with over-the-counter Tylenol.
As a part of Green's sentencing and plea Tuesday, she was prohibited from holding a state license as a nurse.
She was also sentenced to 10 days in jail, placed on three years probation and required to serve 160 hours of community service. Some of the other terms of her sentence include undergoing drug evaluations and mental evaluations.
