Tampa, Fla., July 24, 2007 – Hundreds of kidney patients from across the U.S. will gather for the American Association of Kidney Patients’ (AAKP) 34th Annual Convention taking place Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, 2007, at the Adam’s Mark® Hotel St. Louis. This is the largest gathering of its kind, dedicated to bringing world renowned renal professionals and kidney patients together for four days of educational sessions and social events.
Some of the Convention speakers include:
Christopher Blagg, MD, Executive Director Emeritus, Northwest Kidney Center
Eli Friedman, MD, Chief, Division of Renal Disease, State University of NY, Health Science Center at Brookly
Thomas Peters, MD, Professor of Surgery, Chief of Transplant, University of Florida at Shands in Gainesville, Florida
"AAKP is excited to provide this unique opportunity to the kidney community," says AAKP President Bobbi Wager, RN, MSN. "This is a special occasion where patients have access to not only other patients who are dealing with similar circumstances, but also nephrologists, nurses and social workers."
The Annual Convention is filled with impressive social events, including the Welcoming Ceremonies, an exhibit hall with more than 20 exhibit booths and a cooking demonstration featuring "Extra" correspondent and celebrity Chef Katie Lee Joel, who will be showcasing some of her family’s favorite kidney friendly recipes. Katie was the first season host of Bravo’s hit "Top Chef," a reality competition for the Culinary arts, and is currently writing her first cookbook to be published next year.
