Husband and Wife Of 20 Years Discover They Are Brother And Sister
Written by Bonnie Burns
20 June 2007
Spokane WA: Bill and Millie Roth, married 20 years discovered today that they share the same father. The Roth's were having DNA tests to discover who was more compatible for their 18 year old son who needed a kidney transplant. The DNA results, which were deemed 99.999 percent accurate proved that Bill and Millie were actually brother and sister.
The Roth's each confronted their mother's and leaned that they had both, for different reason, conceived through the use of a sperm donor. Though the artificial insemination's were two years apart, both had gone to the same clinic in Cheney, Washington. Apparently, both had been given sperm from the same donor. Further investigation into the records at the 'New Life Clinic' proved that each mother received the same sperm lot number. Doctor Abubaco, the newly appointed Director of the clinic stated "The likelihood of this circumstance culminating in 2 children derived from the same sperm donor, 2 years apart, meeting and getting married is almost statistically inconceivable".
Bill and Millie have hired an attorney to review the circumstances of the legality of their marriage as it relates to United States law which states 'A marriage may not take place in between an ancestor and descendant, a brother and sister (full or half blood), an uncle and niece or an aunt and nephew, regardless of whether or not these persons are legitimate or illegitimate offspring.'
The Roth's are notably upset and in turmoil over this situation. Both are still very much in love and are frightened by the possible outcome of this relational fact. "If this can happen to us, it can be happening to others." stated Bill Roth. "Anonymous sperm donors grow every year, and with more women using this method to conceive a child, the odds are bound to get closer to children of the same donor meeting."
Regarding the Roth's son, Millie was found to be the best donor and will undergo the removal of her kidney next week. At this time, the Roth's continue living as a married couple until the courts tell them otherwise.

OK, that's scary! Good reason to have DNA tests done before you get married. I think a lot of couples from certain ethnicities (Ashkenazic -sp? Jewish for one) to make sure they are not both carriers of certain diseases.

it is scarey-glad its not a true story!!

OK, i admit, you had me going gosh darnit :P But what is scary is it was so convincing and i am sure can be very possible :o :popcorn;

Umm - I'm not finding that very funny, either. I read an article here in Michigan about sperm donors that said there are a few that have been forbidden to donate any more sperm in a couple of local towns because so many children have been conceived from those particular donors. With no way to track how many children a donor has, this is going to be a reality all to soon.

:banghead; I feel dumb, I completely didn't even see the spoof part. But seriously, that could realistically happen. Scary thought.
