Adjel is getting an access on Tuesday, because they do not think that they can wait, until June, so they are going through the neck. I checked a book out of our neighborhood library. It is called The Renal Gourmet by Mardy Peters. It is written by a kidney patient. It gives recipes and tells how much sodium, phosphorus, and potassium each of the recipes have. And they are telling him that he cannot drive after he gets done. :boxing;

Adjel (Adam) my husband they were going to try and wait to see if he could get a transplant if the insurance will approve. But after a some test on Friday they decided they can not wait any longer so that he is getting an access in his neck on Tuesday morning and starting dialysis on Tuesday after noon. Any suggestions on how to make Tuesday go by any easier would be appreciated. ????? I checked out a book from the library to try to get ahead start on the diet it is mostly recipes. Jenny

Will keep Adam in & you in thought & prayer. Try and be rested up for Tuesday, as you will have to be his strength till they get him sorted out. Doubt there is anything I can say to make things easier other than I said you both will be in my thoughts and prayers, hang in there. :grouphug;

Godspeed Adjel. :thumbup;

Adjel, we all are thinking good thoughts. try and stay away from salty foods as that will effect your fluid removal. If I have a salty meal at lunch I am sure to cramp big time on the machine. Also it goes without saying start reducing the fluid intake..BOL Boxman55

Thank You everyone for your encouragement and prayers. I'm glad I wrote in here We did not know that he had to reduce fluid intake and we had a guess on the salty foods. :bow; I guess we really are newbies. Jenny and Adjel

Adjel has been to dialysis three times so far. He has a lot more energy. His work schedule has been switched to mornings, except Fridays, so that he can go to dialysis. It is working out very well. Thanks for all your prayers. :bow;

Thanks for the update Jenny. I hope Adjel is feeling better. The dialysis really helped my daughter. I could see her color and appetite improve compared to how she was the weeks before dialysis began. Best wishes to you both!

The great thing about being newbies are that you are not corrupt yet.. :lol;

If they haven't told you yet, you also need to limit phosphorus, potassium, etc. (dairy, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, etc.) There are LONG lists here, check out the Diet & Recipes section. Glad he's doing better.
