That is absolutely wonderful!!! Is anyone going?  I am so happy you told me about that.  I worked on a dialysis cruise last year and the patients had a ball.  I had a ball too, we went to Alaska.    :clap;

I didn't know one even excised. I asked my social worker about it and she told me there were a few. But i never was told anything about it. I can just picture my self getting off dialysis and feeling low and crashy then having the boat start to rock! Can some one give me more info?

I just checked out the site, Hogs on the High Seas, it's for hemodialysis patients only, YOU pay for the caregiver/2nd person, but still!! What a wonderful deal!!  Really! I so hope some of you can go on this cruise. Check it out, just google the phrase, it should come up for you.

I is really very fun.  I am an RN that has worked on one of the cruises.  They have wheelchairs if you need it.  You can go the customer service desk to get a wheelchair.  If you usually feel bad after tx, then make plans to take a nap after to rest then plan your day after that.  You dialyze in beds.  The dialysis unit is actually very small, they rent this space from the cruise line.  You will have a nurse that you can contact 24hrs a day, there is also a nephrologist who makes rounds.  I love cruising, you can do anything you want.  My friends laugh at me because I will take a nap in the afternoon while all this activity is going on.  Well that is what a vacation is, you do whatever you want.  Everyione should experience a cruise a least once in their lifetime.   :beer1;

This does sound like a great deal for any dialysis patient who also likes motorcycles and a cruise vacation.  Here is the link to the dialysis cruise page, http://www.hogsonthehighseas.com/mr08_dialysisfund.html

$1300 plus travel insurance for the caregiver isn't very expensive considering the cruise fare and dialysis fees are provided for the patient.  I'm wondering now where Hogs on the High Seas gets the money to pay for this.

If anyone plans to do this let us know and also plan to post something about your cruise experience when you get back.

There's more info on their page about how the funding is entirely from donations/raffles, etc. They chose dialysis patients because they thought we needed a break. Bless their hearts!!  You gotta have a pic of you/SO on a motorcycle, though...There IS a
need for a cycle connection after all! Oh well. And I'm pd, not hemo. Double darn.

I posted about it before, but noone was interested.  Now look!   You have to know someone who rides a motorcycle and proive it with a picture of them and their bike. I do not know if you have to know someone who is member of HOTS but I know some people.  So I am making  aphone call and we shall see what happens.
