Im a current dialysis patient in Scottsdale, Az. I just wanted to share my experience with AMERICAN RENAL/SCOTTSDALE KIDNEY CENTER. I was going to a DAVITA facility in Scottsdale, which was for me, a horrific experience. I never felt as if I was being treated as a human being. I felt the facility wasn't kept up, the staff was lazy, and my experience with the physician in charge of the unit was that she was only there once a month. I did my research and discovered a dialysis company called American Renal. I noticed it online in the middle of the night trying to find a place to move to with better dialysis. I ended up going to a site in Maine.....and I then discovered American Renal. I looked to see if they had a center here, and BINGO.....they did! I set up a visit, and it was SPOTLESS, the people were gracious, kind, compassionate, interested in my situation...I suffer from PTSD, and being in a 24 chair unit was brutal with the noise. I decided to switch over to American Renal/Scottsdale Kidney Center. Let me tell you....the treatment is beyond stellar. The staff really truly cares, they fold your blanket for you, walk you to the door, their practices are above reproach. This company provides a truly HUMANE experience. You are treated like a valuable human being....because you are one. They are looking to get more patients, and I am here to tell you...you would be remiss in not checking them out. I love it here....and I wish EVERY SINGLE PERSON could be treated so well. You deserve it, so check it out....especially if you are struggling with the giants...davita and Fresenius.
Love,
Deanna :cheer:

Do they take traveling patients? I travel to the US a lot and, except for a private clinic in NYC, I've only ever used Davita when traveling. I've never had a problem with Davita, in fact, the last time I used their services for free, because they never cashed the money order I gave them.

Yes, I believe they do. You should look into it.

I see American Renal is owned by Innovative Renal Care, LLC. Anybody know the difference between an LLC and for-profits like davita and fresenius?
-
As far as I can tell neither American Renal or Innovative Renal Care is in the stock market. In my book that is a big plus! (but then few people read my book) I just don't like for-profit enterprises where there is little or no choice. However I've seen smaller for-profits that aren't in the stock market succeed.

An LLC is at most a legal shield to protect the owners assets from a small part of the business contained within the LLC. Think of someone who owns a building leased to a restaurant, that building will be in an LLC. Should someone slip and fall in the parking lot the building owner's assets will be protected and the only entity at risk is the one that owns the building, the LLC. So they might loose the building should they loose a huge lawsuit, but their personal wealth/home would be protected.
I would assume originally most DaVita and Fresenius clinics are all LLC owned by the corporation and possibly partly by the clinic nephrologists/medical group - that might have changed due to the various DaVita lawsuits.

Davita and lawsuits, go together like a horse and carriage. So I'm assuming American Renal is privately owned? And thank you for the clarification about an LLC!

Its not a public company. I don't see anything that clearly says if its "privately" owned versus say owned by a hedge fund.

Thanks! I was just curious, I hope with whoever owns it they don't make the clinics do the financial dance the stock market investors seem to want. It isn't like patients can get up and leave a clinic and go to another across the street most of the time. Unless things have really changed over the years.

I suspect that Arizonainthehouse is a sockpuppet for American Renal. Prove me wrong.....

And how was her comment about me being a "sock puppet" not offensive...it certainly was offensive to me. So, Id like to report that nasty comment because it is blatantly false, presumptuous, rude, unkind to a fellow dialysis patient and pathetic. Where is THAT WARNING?

Dear Kitkatz, I agree with Arizona's concerns because being offended by another IHD-member (?) is not particularly encouraging for a new dialysis-patient to come back here to compare experiences and ask questions ... :grouphug;

As an admin, I can see the removed post. I am not going to quote it, but the short form is the post took offense at the suggestion the original poster was shilling for a vendor, and referred to that person using the "B word" and making an obviously not serious threat of criminal violence against that person. I am mentioning this so those who did not read the post while it was up will have some context.
Use of the term "sock puppet" is not in the same league of offensiveness as using the B word and making a threat of violence (although obviously not a serious one) against someone because you do not like their post. Do you really think that people are going to be more likely to believe what you say because you have a vocabulary that includes the B word and offer imagery of violence against the person you feel slighted by?
Is your offendedness based on the fact that Alexysis used the term Sock Puppet? Would you have been offended if the post instead read something like "I see you are very new here. It is common for marketing people for vendors to post glowing reviews on web sites - can you offer a bit of evidence that you are indeed what you say you are?"
I find the removed post's approach atypical for a female, as that is usually stereotypical aggressive lower class alpha male behavior. But, stereotypes do not define the individual.
It is natural to wonder if someone with a very low number of posts talking about how great a vendor is (on any forum, not just IHD) is shilling for the vendor, as such practice is common. Perhaps further introducing yourself, and mentioning that you are indeed a dialysis patient and not a spokesperson for the vendor would have done more to convince people you are will than using the "proof by insult and threat" form of persuasion. (I'm not sure there is even a Latin term for that).
Wondering about the veracity of your post is no more insulting than a vendor asking you provide ID before accepting your check, or a dialysis center operating on a "certified funds in advance or verified insurance only" basis.
In any case, consider a "reset", introducing yourself to this online community, and telling us a bit about yourself.
