Just saw this.

How is everything going with the Graft?

I use a graft as well because my veins are way to small for a fistula.

I have had lots of problems with my graft though.

I am on my second graft in less than 6 months.

The first Graft lasted maybe a couple of weeks anf they started having trouble with it. The Techs would be 100% certain they were in the graft with the needle but no blood would return. Or they wouldnt be able to cannulate in the graft all together. This would amount to me getting poked up to 6 times each visit. Then they ballooned that  first graft and they still had trouble with it at the clinic, so they set me up for another graft surgery. The graft seemed to be working well, and then BOOM same problem... the needle was in the graft but no blood return. So again, went and had a fistulagram and they ballooned it. This last fistualgram was 2 weeks ago and the graft seems to be working ok, although still very finicky. There are only TWO Techs who can cannulate my graft with little to no issue.

THEN I was told by a nurse I wasnt allowed to request a certain Tech to cannulate me that I had to go with the one whom was assigned to my chair regardless if they were one of the TWO who were successful at cannulating me.. which i think is wrong, but thats a different story in itself..
