Title: What are you doing to stay busy at home?
Post by: kitkatz on April 02, 2020, 05:25:33 PM

It's a strange world.  I never imagined I would see a worldwide pandemic in my lifetime. I stay home as instructed, except for dialysis treatments.
What do I do to stay calm and not let the craziness get to me?
** I refuse to watch the news for more than five minutes at a time. I remind myself that during this unsettled time I can be calm, cool and collected.
** I write. I am writing my fourth book in my Grey of Dharaven Fantasy series of books.  Book one is with a publisher undergoing creative editing. It should be back soon for more editing.  I also have a series of small booklets about the world I created to write and design.
** I draw and paint. I have two pieces to share in this letter.  (The paintings are from art at https://Willowing.org - Lifebook 2020.)
** I take art and business classes online.
** I read every day. This week's book is Arcady by Michael Williams.
** I talk to family and friends online or on the phone.

What are you doing at home to keep yourself busy?

Gosh, kitkatz, you certain are creative!  I'm envious.  You sound very busy!  I am not sure I understand; are there two of your pieces that we can actually have a look at on willowing?  I clicked on the link and went to Lifebook 2020 but was unsure of what I was seeing.  I'd love to see your work if possible.

I have a stack of novels that I'm reading, the current one being Seveneves.  Unfortunately, all of the libraries are closed, but that relieves me of the temptation to go and check out my usual 5 books at a time and forces me to read what I already have.

The weather is truly springlike, now, so I have been very busy in the garden clearing invasive ivy and cleaning up my beds.  Despite the world being in turmoil, the robins are still running around and lots of my plants are budding.  This restores some sense of normalcy.

I have plenty of places to go walking where it is easy to keep my distance from other people who are also enjoying the fresh air.

My husband has been working from home for the past 2 weeks and has just learned he will continue to do so until the end of the month.  I am used to having my house to myself during the day, so this is a bit of an adjustment for me.

There are just too many great things to watch on Netflix, so I have to be sure I don't become a potato with square eyes.

I’ve definitely become a couch potato with square eyes. Bar info about covid mainly watching The Good Fight on Amazon together with Hubby who is shielding with me at home for the last two, and the next 10 weeks (amazing most of the time) I’m pretending to feel as if we are retired  ;D . No hosp appointments either. Bless

I still have to work (remotely) so that takes up a good chunk of the day. Now that we are both home during the day, I cook lunch besides dinner only. To be honest, it would be so fun to do creative activities, but alas, I am not stocked up on basics. There is a sketchpad but my mind is blank. Ha. Watching a lot of tv (yay, couch potatoing!) but I just find myself watching government coronavirus updates (even US ones...) and just get more wound up.

My husband doesn't believe in streaming services (Netflix) because he was born in a cave shortly after the dinosaurs perished. Probably the only people out there in the developed world!

Something hilarious though.  :lol; Based off a news article, my husband ordered me one of those nurse outfits.  :lol; :lol; :lol; All fun and games, right? Well, he told me that I made an awful fantasy nurse because it was too much like real life. Especially with all the medical equipment and supplies we have!

O I also started my application for settled status in the UK. Pff what a joy this Brexit.

Work online.  Clean the stove, bathtub and guns.

A few pieces of my artwork.  I am taking classes through Lifebook 20202 at https://willowing.org .  I amaze myself at the painting I do.

Oooh, thanks for posting these since I couldn't find them on the website.  I particularly like "Take me to the Moon"!
