Title: Patient paid travel and participation for study
Post by: okarol on July 18, 2019, 08:27:07 AM
Paid travel and participation:
This firm is doing research about kidney disease and are looking for patients to participate. I am posting this for them and would appreciate feedback from any of those who make contact with them. Here’s the info:
...........
Hi all! My name is Delana and I work for a global research firm called AlphaSights. Our firm connects our clients with individuals that can help to educate them on a certain topic of interest during the early stages of their research. For this study, we are working with a consulting firm looking to understand unmet needs in CKD Patient treatment landscape in order to improve treatment options. To better understand the needs, they are hoping to meet with patients in-person for 60 minutes in Philadelphia.

We are seeking CKD patients who live in the US, who have one or both of these conditions: diabetes and/or hypertension, and who are willing to travel to be interviewed between August 19 and September 16. They would, of course, be happy to cover travel expenses and compensate $100/hr for your time on-site.

If this is something you may be interested in, please feel free to contact me directly at delana.miller@alphasights.com and I would love to set up a brief phone call to go over details with you! Thanks so much in advance and looking forward to hearing about your journey.

Best regards,
Delana

$100 per hour would be good if it also applied to travel time, not just time on site.  Air travel can be a long and hectic ordeal, as everybody knows. The trip might also require an overnight stay in Philadelphia, which wouldn't be compensated. They should pay $100 for a phone interview.

I mentioned to them how hard it is for hemodialysis patients to travel on such short notice. You may want to respond to them and suggest the phone interview or FaceTime call, it may be an option if they don’t get enough participants.

Ahhh yes, but you can spend a week there one day.  (W.C. Fields)

If I did not have that job thing and they wanted me, I would go and make it a field trip to the Mutter museum.

And it's said that Fields wanted his epitaph to read, "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia."

A field trip to Pat's would be good too.

Yeah, a Philly cheese steak would make it more enticing.

The contact person Karol provided said today that they are expanding the format to include phone interviews.  If you're interested, set it up with Delana Miller at delana.miller@alphasights.com

Hate to say it, but with things the way they are these days, how reliable is this organization?

I think you'd get your hundred bucks, which isn't bad for an hour's work.  I think I'll do it myself.

I'm more worried about someone getting access to your private information than being paid.

Yes, and whatever HIPPA says, it does get sold to advertisers and insurance companies.
