One of the 5 BP meds that hubby is on is Losartan, and we got a letter this week from the VA Hospital that there had been a recall of certain batches of the drug, and could we check our stock... I checked but the lots that were considered 'tainted' were made several months ago (like September), and of course our present stock was delivered this January with a lot number way higher than the list of baddies. There's no possible way for us to know if we'd gotten the tainted product because we don't save old bottles: If we did get tainted product, they've been consumed. The contaminant is a known carcinogen to animals (not known for people yet), and no adverse reactions have been reported.
I reckon that MOST folks who are on these BP meds will have swallowed all these pills by now. I'm a bit miffed that it took so many months for the company to sort this out, but nonetheless, I'm posting about it in case any of you have older bottles in your stores. Here's an article about the recall:

OK, more reading online and I learn that this is a much broader issue in that several high-blood-pressure meds are being recalled for the same or similar reasons: https://www.drugs.com/fda/fda-updates-angiotensin-ii-receptor-blocker-arb-recalls-14201.html (https://www.drugs.com/fda/fda-updates-angiotensin-ii-receptor-blocker-arb-recalls-14201.html) and apparently, the root cause for the contaminants being there is still under investigation, so more lots may become affected in the future?
