As some one at the pre dialysis stage im wondering what symptoms people experienced before dialysis and how effective was the dialysis in eliminating or curbing said symptoms. in my case
Extreme water retention in legs/chest and head.
extreme fatigue all the time
itching all over
tinnitus and water in the ears
i feel like crap all the time
depression

Well D will relieve most of your symptoms, some slower than others. You should have had phosphate binders already which would have relieved the itching. Although D removes phosphates (which causes the itching) when you ( hemo )D longer than 5 hours, most take binders too.
With the tinnitus and water in the ears I would have a look at your BP meds. Doxazosin had that effect on me, so that was changed to one of the other BP meds, and back to the land of the hearing.
Depression is likely to be caused by you feeling like crap, and all of a sudden being terminally ill.. As you start to feel better you might have less depression but you might want meds or therapy.
Good luck Jambo101

My symptoms were identical. Add foamy urine. A year before, my BP started creeping up from my usual 130/70 to 140/80 range. My BP spiked higher as my kidneys failed.
>tinnitus and water in the ears
I'd had both of those for decades. They got much worse.

Bingo! My symptoms exactly except I was never itchy. Had fluid overload/heart failure due to kidney failure which gave me zero physical activity tolerance. I couldn't walk across the street. Symptoms improved dramatically the first month. Now I walk 2.5 miles almost daily, work out in the gym twice a week, and swim twice a week. Mood is better, concentration back to normal.

I also suffered from water retention. The itching was helped by putting body-cream all over my body after every bath or shower...
and I also suffered fatique and could feel that something needed to be done, but it still took a little while for me to face the fact that I really needed dialysis-treatments and there was no way out of it...
After about 6 weeks of 3x weekly dialysis-treatments, my body started to feel a bit better again and I felt so relieved about it...
I send you my good-luck-wishes from Kristina. :grouphug;
