Title: Permacath Removal
Post by: UkrainianTracksuit on March 04, 2018, 07:04:19 AM
So, I have been going through the posts here concerning this topic, and have a really dumb question. (as usual)  ;D

From what I've read here, the removal is fairly straightforward. I am still concerned how it will feel though I know the area is frozen. Further, I read somewhere online that I cannot lay down for 6 hours afterwards? But, my main question is, will I be able to go shopping afterwards or should I take it easy? Thanks...

I had mine removed in an office visit.   I felt a bit of tugging, and when there was a tiny bit of pain I asked the doc for a refill on the 2% lidocaine.  He obliged, and the procedure was fairly comfortable.

I was able to drive myself to, and from, the appointment and had no residual pain.  I was not given any instructions to lay down or avoid shopping.   I think I went right back to work.

Great! If you went back to work afterwards, I think I can attempt to run around then. (not literally..) Did they do blood work on your first to check platelets and whatnot? I'm sure it's been done with my other battery of tests but I have had very little instructions on pre/post procedure.
