Title: Feeling awful once again
Post by: AaishaDar on August 14, 2017, 08:14:48 PM
So another treatment today. I started to get hot and sweaty and i know because they were pulling off too much fluid and eventually vomitted. Theres that, AFTER words my blood clotted so they had to end the treatment (13 min left) and were unable to return my blood. Ive never felt so weak in my life. My arms I cant even lift them and my legs are so weak it feel like they were giving out once I got home. Like everything is so worn out and tired and ive never experienced it before. Has anyone ever experienced this? Also losing the blood that couldn't be returned should i be worried? Hemodialysis is just not my thing.

Generally they will take a HGB at your next treatment as blood loss will drop your crit.  I wouldn't worry unless it happens frequently or a couple of times in a row.

Oh, I'm so sorry.  You have just "CRASHED".  Until they get your dry weight close to target you may experience this.

Your dry weight is your weight minus any extra fluid.  So, now that you have "crashed" they need to raise... your dry weight.

They also need to increase your heparin just a "touch".  You should NOT clot off.

The blood lines and dialyzor (artificial kidney) only has about 1/2 cup of blood.  So, you should be okay.

Keep some tonic water at home for cramps.  Tonic water has quinine in it which is a muscle relaxer.

Right now your are very dehydrated so eat something salty and drink a glass of water.

Just my  :twocents;

You will get there....

I agree with Rerun, your blood pressure must have crashed.  Generally speaking, if you lose the blood in your lines it is not enough to cause a problem.  However, if you loose it several times in a row, it can be an issue.  Just be careful and know your own body.  If you feel bad enough, go to the Emergency Room.  Do not hesitate to get help if you know this is not how you are supposed to feel.

Your weak limbs kind of scare me.  Potassium either high or low can stop your heart.  Weak limbs are s symptom.  Don't freak.  Just know your potassium labs. You are on a potassium bath.  Ask what bath you are on.  Then ask what your last potassium lab was.  Here are the baths.  K1, K2, K3, K4
K1 takes the most potassium out of your blood and K4 takes the least potassium out of your blood.   Ask, and then we can go from there.  Make sure and tell your Doc your limbs were weak.

There is also a K0 but it is hardly ever used.

Fresenius was very concerned when I called to report they delivered a box of K0 rather than K2 back when I was on the Baby K.  They had someone at my house the next day picking it up.
