Title: Change Can Be Good
Post by: PrimeTimer on March 18, 2017, 12:14:30 PM
Don't be afraid to tweak your diet. It can start with something as simple as the way you fry your eggs. Years ago I stopped frying eggs with butter. It was just something I decided to stop doing. By the time we married and I started cooking for my husband, never gave it much thought and continued cooking them that way. But after more than 10 years of marriage come to find out, my husband does not like them so "dry" and he certainly doesn't like them overcooked. Now I cook them the way HE suggests -with red/green/yellow bell peppers and onions sauteed in canola oil first and then I add the eggs on top. I use to fry the eggs first THEN add the veggies. Funny, can't believe something as simple as adding oil to a frying pan would improve my husband's appetite (and hopefully health!) not to mention adding a little happiness to our lives.

Nice to read PT! My hubby didn't like the way I made tea. He only mentioned that after 20+ yrs of marriage. I now keep the kettle as high as I can while pooring the boiling water in his cup. Would be nice to still be around in another 20 yrs to find out if he prefers it like that. I still say, just put it in a teapot like normal people

Daughter makes 'Holy' Tea, she boils the Hell out of it.  Then adds enough sugar to cover the bitterness.

I add the tea to cold water then on a medium heat bring it to a high STEAM, if I see the first few bubbles of a boil begin I immediately remove it from the heat and let it steep another five minutes.  I don't always use bags, I still buy some tea loose leaf use a coffee filter to strain the leaves out as I pour my tea over ice  in the pitcher. Add cold water to finish filling then I use Stevia and sugar in equal amounts to sweeten.  I found I can tolerate Stevie, all of the other sweeteners leave a nastiness on my tongue I just cannot get used to.  Sucrose isn't too bad but in me, sucrose kills off much of the abdominal flors leaving my with diarrhea that lasts for far too to many weeks, even with taking probiotics.  So I ain't making that mistake again.
