I have a trip to Las Vegas coming up soon. I have been to Vegas many. many times but this will be my first time while on dialysis.
For all of you who done Vegas while on dialysis, I would like to know any tips you have for surviving all the food and drink in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas is not a very dialysis friendly place with all the temptations. How do you deal with the buffets, etc.? Thanks

We went two years ago for five days. My husband is on dialysis. We did a session at home before we left and he scheduled one hemo session right in the middle on day 3. Then dialysis once we got home. I'd also been to Vegas many times before, but this trip was really different. Rather than hanging out at the casino's all day we rented a car and went sight seeing each day. I'd never even seen the desert all those other trips. And I find in vegas all the restaurants are competing to see who can be the "fanciest" so the portion sizes were not too bad.
Alternatively we just did a Florida trip and he had a much harder time for two reasons: the weather was much warmer which causes anyone to drink more water, and wholly everywhere you went to eat the portions are ridiculous.

When I spend a week in LV, I generally have one buffet dinner and maybe one breakfast. What I really like to find is the small independent Mexican places in strip malls - some have proven to be pretty good (unfortunatelly, I done won't remember where any of them are).
Las Vegas clinics are very used to transient patients - the Desert inn Dialysis facility I use when in LV tells me they get about 150 per month.
