Great read.  Aside from further medical issues we have no idea how long a tx organ can last.

I am NOT Normal, I swear I do not think like others do.  The very First thing that popped into my mind when reading this was,

TOTAL Surprise that the Marine Corp allowed a member to donate a body part.  They OWN you, and ALL of your parts. If a Servicemember does something stupid, that limits their ability to go to work and complete their duty/job, that Service Member is subject to Article 15 UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) Sort of like a traffic ticket.  They can be fined, restricted, reduction in pay grade, etc. And for the stupidest things, sun burnt, an infected tattoo, etc..  Because you 'Damaged' Government Property.

The story left out many details.  The donor may have been near the end of his term of service, he may not have been 'active' at the time of surgery.

Whatever, He did a good thing and his Brother is a survivor.

God Bless them Both.
