I have been having trouble with cramping in my abdomen at the end of my dialysis. I was wondering if taking Lorazepam before having my treatment would take away those cramps? Has anyone tried Lorazepam for cramping? Please let me know...

Hi, well I use Diazepam when I cramp (which is also a benzodiazepine) and that works for cramps mainly in my legs, or arms.
When I start cramping in my abdomen I straight away stop the UF.
If you are cramping at the end of a session, aren't you heading to being dry perhaps?
Luck and love, Cas

Hi...yes I probably am getting to my dry weight so I am having my doctor increase it...I am just frustrated because I no longer pass urine and I love to drink a lot of fluid...I have always been a big drinker because it helps me keep my hunger away so I can lose weight...now I can't enjoy a big meal or drink as much as i want to anymore...I need to qualify for a transplant but I am too large for a transplant...I am applying to University of Illinois at Chicago because they will do transplants on obese patients...I feel very bad for you because I see that you had gotten a kidney from your dad but then it stop working and you had to go back on dialysis...that would be so hard for me to take...I hope you are doing well and hope to hear from you soon! Joe

Hi Joe! Work with your dietician to get your weight down. He/she can offer good tips to help you lose weight so you can list at more transplant hospitals! Good luck with your transplant! :flower;

Drink some Tonic Water before dialysis. Or even a little everyday. It has quinine in it which is a natural muscle relaxer.

I know some patients in our clinic use Apple Cider Vinegar for cramps afterwards....and it works for them. Personally I have never tried it.
