:bandance; :bandance;
I just managed to stick a sharp in my long abandoned buttonhole without touching any of the 3 collateral veins surrounding it, AND the venous pressures are great.
I'm so happy... They told me after (self requested) ultra sound to make a new BH in between 2 other ones, but I couldn't get the sharp in cos very calcified. So I asked if I could try the top BH as that was abandoned so long ago. NO the collateral veins are too close. So I did anyway (the sun is shining and 'they'd called that they wanted to try a plasti again eventhough the last 4 didn't work...)
And I had to let somebody know before hubby comes back from work cos I would explode. :cheer: :flower;
Thanx honeys, love y'all, Cas

LOL I've known a few IV drug users that would just spit if they knew of how some of you needle with such large bore rigs. And instead of just getting that little 'flag' to let them know they are in, would s#it if they knew of the flow rates you have.
Then again I have to admit they might like the idea of a 'buttonhole'.
Glad this went well for you and I have to say "Girl you gots Ovaries". Sort of the Female equivalent of a similar statement to a Guy.
From a Needlephobic PD'r, a Don't-wanna-be Hemo Dialyzer, I have to admit admiration to everyone of you that has the confidence, and guts, to take charge and needle yourself.
Congratulations!

Thanx Charlie, and I hope you'll never have to find out that you can, but to get a kidney or some miracle cure.
Love, Cas

That's fantastic, cassandra! You're awesome! I always think of the attitude you take whenever I am having a challenging day. You cannot know how much someone like you helps others (me). Thanks!

Unfortunately a kidney is out of the question. Way too many other 'issues' they wouldn't even begin to consider me.
Not just that I'm still a smoker with a 45+ year history but arterial problems, too much clogging all over. Multiple stents in both inguinals which allow me to keep my legs. Not that I can get anywhere far, or fast. The 'Widow-makers has been averted with a triple by-pass however the two grafts taken from my thighs are already completely occluded. Thankfully co-laterals have grown in and by-passed those. End result, no heart damage other than the massive enlargement of the left side.
I've always had a 'big' heart. Just an old softy!
There was another reason, or two, I don't remember. I am just so very thankful that PD is working so well for me.
Now, if they figure out how to grow a NEW one! I'd be cool with that.
Still want to print me a bunch of them shirts. Dead Man Walking.
OH, Oh, I got a great idea. Maybe I should ask Kitkatz to CHANGE my name? She so loves changing member names.
I hope she is in a really good mood when/if she reads this.

Interesting, I've been wondering if "abandoned" buttonholes could be reused or not. I've always had trouble with my husbands venous buttonhole. I went right through one, the nurses started us another one, I got the second one a couple of times and then not again, this time we started our own buttonhole.
