Do you receive any type of government assistance? Does your clinic offer a shuttle? Would your insurance cover any of the expense? Can you carpool with another patient and split the cost?

I hope one of these ideas help.

Does your clinic offer a shuttle?

I'm pretty sure you should be able to find transportation or assistance through your clinics Social Worker.  Unless you live in the boonies or are traveling a great distance to your clinic finding transportation shouldn't be a problem.  It does mean you loose some control and have to function on someone elses clock though.

Ouch, that's quite a distance both ways.  Yeah transportation companies probably wont do that.  Bug the crap out of your social worker about the medicare.  If they are not already talking to medicare on your behalf they may have avenues to get things pushed faster than you can yourself.  I don't know how long these things take so it's just a suggestion.

I'm the type that likes to brainstorm so in that spirit I'm just throwing out ideas:
Is there any chance you could try home dialysis? When you start home training Medicare kicks right in - no waiting period (if that's the issue).
Get a high mileage vehicle
Ride a high mileage motorcycle/scooter (vespas are kinda cool)

Just what sort of mileage do you currently get? Could you combine dialysis with other trips?
