Anyone on hemodialysis that seems to have diarrhea every day? I mean, maybe one or two days out of the week I might go to the bathroom once and produce solid stool and then go right back to liquid stool. And this sucks because I have fissures and the diarrhea irritates my anal area so badly that it will itch, sting and burn like hemorrhoids. Just awful. And nothing my doctors can say or do that helps. I just have a feeling this has alot to do with dialysis and how I have to limit my damn fluid intake to 4 cups a day.

Yeah. I had that when I was on Hemo. It was awful.
Check with your docs and see if there is a fiber supplement you can take. Also, those flush-able baby wipes are a godsend.
I would be very conscious of fluid intake. If you're having this often, make sure you're not too low on fluid too.

There is a very good and gentle fiber supplement called Acacia which is very helpful with irritable bowels. One version is called Heather's Tummy Fiber (www.heatherstummycare.com). Good luck.

I used to have that. Until I started using a high potency Micro biota, couldn't believe it.

Try RectiCare Anorectal cream. 5% Lidocaine . It works great, A little pricey 26 dollars for 30 grams, but only need a tiny bit. Can be found at Walmart, I found some on EBay for cheaper. Sure beats staying awake burning and itching all night. Once the area is healed, it is hardly needed anymore.It numbs the area up real quick!

Just because wipes CAN be flushed doesn't mean that they should. They do NOT decompose and will clog up septic systems.
I watched a Documentary on this and was surprised at how they jammed up the grinders in city sewer systems. Cities have had to build huge seperating systems to screen these wipes out and truck them off to a solid waste faciliity.
If you have your own septic tank do as you please, but it will cost you much more later. Use a plastic bag in a trash container in the bathroom for the wipes.
Now, Diarrhea. Is this a recent affliction? Wife doesn't talk to her Dr to tell him much of anything. I recently found out she has had this problem for MANY YEARS. Testing and eliminating food items we have determined that common pepper she uses at the table is a major trigger. Lactic acid is another. We are still testing attempting to learn others.
It is very possible that the microbia in your system has undergone some change, and things you thought you tolerate fine may not all still be so. Try to identify the triggers by keeping a strict calander/journal of EVERYTHING that passes your lips.
This can be a PITA but really needs to be done so you can look back and see what the 'common' item(s) are. Then eliminate that thing for a week and see if you improve.

Funny - dialysis and fluid limits did the opposite to me - rock hard stools that sometimes would even bridge over the opening at the bottom of the toilet and refuse to break up, or get stuck in the trap of the toilet and require augering (yetch!). 250mg colace every AM seems to have softened things up a bit.

I cosign on the probiotics - but I just get the OTC stuff at my pharmacy (it's in the section with all the other supplements). It's about $7 a bottle and does what it needs to do. I've felt so much better since adding them in.
I'm sure the high potency ones are great too, I just don't have the budget for that a month.

At Amazon they are slightly better priced so I take 2 weeks high potency, 'normal' 1 Month etc.

Good advice, also keep in mind most older plumbing is very susceptible to blockage from things like this. When you have lines with roots and stuff in them you do not want that kind of "crap" catching and causing a blockage... (We live in 1940's town home development where outside blockages can backup in other units and its not nice.)

FYI, RectiCare cream is not a wipe, it's a cream in a tube, you put it on with a piece of TP . Works wonders for itching and burning.
