Title: Fast food chains that serve meat sourced from animals injected with antibiotics
Post by: hatedialysis2 on March 03, 2016, 06:49:03 AM
"The routine use of antibiotics in raising meat—including cattle, chicken, and other animals—contributes to the problem of antibiotic resistance. That's when bacteria evolve to become immune to these life-saving drugs. “As consumers become aware of the problem, they’re increasingly seeking out meat that has been raised without antibiotics, both when they shop at the supermarket and when they dine out,” says Jean Halloran, director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union. “This new report gives them the info they need to make better restaurant choices"

I think that as a dialysis patient I more exposed to superbugs every time I enter a dialysis center and or hospital.  I dont have control over those environments but I can control what I put into my mouth.   The link grades food chains on their commitment to using meats that are antibiotic free. What about dairy and eggs?  Those should also be considered when consuming.

I can't say that this is any surprise.  I have known for a very long time the anti-biotics, and STEROIDS, that is being added to the animals, and fish, found in the marketplaces today.

Take notice where I used    ", and STEROIDS, "  as these are regularly added to the animals, and fishes, food and water sources to promote faster weight gain, increasing bulk, and thereby increasing profits.

Notice the article fails to mention STEROIDS.  If you rescan the article and everywhere is says 'antibiotics'  add 'and steroids'

Corporate greed for higher production, more meat per animal, more profit, drive the use of these additives to the animal foods.

Notice also that I also incruded 'fish' with meats as farm raised fish also have these additives to their foods for all the same reasons.  More production, higher profits, etc.  At the expensive of human health, as these additives remain in the flesh and we EAT this.

You see evidence of the steroid use in our food in the very premature development of female reproduction.  Very young girls of UNDER 10 years old already growing breasts and becoming fertile.  This was not noticeable 50 years ago.  It has been since 'corporations' began dominating the food production industries, forcing out the smaller family owned and operated farms and ranches.

There are still small  'organic' producers. They are few and far between.  And often at a higher price for pound than corporate mass produced flesh.

I better quit here, this is beginning to sound more like a rant.

Where I live I have so many options when it comes to buying grass fed, cage free, no antibiotic meats, humanely treated animals.  .  I don't buy  farm raised fish, only wild caught.    The use of antibiotic and steroids in meats is not new news, what is new is that fast food restaurants are starting to catch on.  It's amazing how fast food chains offer superior products for overseas markets. Why is that?   Is it because they think we have low expectations and don't care what our children put in there bodies?  Is the rise of obesity, cancer, digenerative diseases in our children have anything to do with ingesting meats injected with growth hormones, and antibiotics?

Maybe the typical American consumer is too apathetic, and simply has not been paying much attention to what they have been putting in their bodies.  Relying on 'Government' to set 'standards'.  Then try to act shocked, and outraged when they finally find out otherwise.  Many are simply caught up with posting 'selfies' to notice much of anything else of the world around them.

This includes many 'educated' people.

How many whine and bitch about our Government yet are not willing to get out and VOTE?

I hope I am not pointing a finger at any individual, I'm making a very rude generalization.  It would be great if I were proven wrong.  But voting records are pretty solid proof.

I hope this doesn't lead far off topic as I do NOT want to start any political views.  I can't agree with ANY group.  That may be because I am an Grade A A hole. So please don't think I intend to offend.  It just my nature to spill the truth as I see it.

Back on topic.

It's great that you have all those sources of CLEAN food available.  I'm jealous.  I would like to be able to take advantage as I am sure that it will make a positive difference in the health of the human body to eat clean quality foods.
