Hi Guys,
I am just not getting a break. As most of your know I haven't started dialysis yet but I am overseas for a week for work and my AV Graft has stopped working. I am so worried about my family as they are all unwell with dialysis problems as well but I had to make this trip. I am back home on Thursday and the doctor here says it can wait until I get home to have it seen to. He said it really is only urgent to have it attended to if you are actually on dialysis. Do you guys think it can wait until then? Love, Lucinda xxx

Hey Lucinda,
Sorry to hear about all you dramas!! I dont know much about that stuff, but i was told by my surgeon that if my graft would stop working to come into the hospital straight away.... because the longer its not working the harder it will be to fix.
I hope everything turns out OK.

the longer you wait on any medical problem the worse it gets.take care of it now if you want to keep it. Boxman55

Hi Lucinda, Did you talk to your Dr? What did you find out? I am on PD and mine quit some time ago and my neph didnt seem to worry about it at all, where as others were telling me i needed to go get it unclotted right away, i am hoping that if i ever have to go back on Hemo (hopefully not for a long long long long time) ;) that they will just be able to unclot this one but i dont know if that is going to be possible now that i am hearing others talk about having it done right away. Please let us know what you find out. Thank you. Hope your doing better other wise, we miss you here :cuddle;

I spoke to a number of people who say it doesn't need to be done straight away but the longer you leave it the harder it is to simply fix the problem without having to relocate the whole access. I am seeing my vascular surgeon tomorrow so I will let you know what happens but it has now been blocked for over a week so I am hoping it is just a small procedure to fix it. They seem more worried about my thyroid/parathyroid. The fomer is underactive, the latter overactive. They are starting me on Thyroxine and Rocaltol which will evidently help both levels. With an iron infusion this week and a little more epo I might start feeling relatively normal soon. :banghead;
Thanks for the concern. Love to all.xxxx :grouphug;
