Very nice to read in Niernieuws (Kidneynews) that French Parliament has passed a law that an opt-out system will be introduced in 2018.
Not only does that mean that anyone who dies has given consent unless registered on a refusal registration list or carries a Codicil of refusal, family members can not refuse either.
The refusal of family members after a registered donor dies is high, and in countries with an opt-out system in Belgium or Spain for example too.
It's very positive news.

A very progressive decision. I would be curious to find out how this came about. Was there much public input that prompted a member to bring this up, or how did this come about?
A key point I noticed was that individuals could 'Opt Out', and that measure (I hope) should be well published so as not to scare the public into believing they will each be carved into multiple pieces. Although that 'could' almost be possible.
This 'Law' may also be a Godsend to some of those that are and will become 'listed' as needing and organ.
The U.S. should keep an eye on this and consider following France's example. The key will be education of the public, and that takes time, and very low key signals,as fear is a tough one to overcome. And in general, what the people don''t know, they fear.
Take Care,
